Nope. That's pretty much the way he does it. As long as he gets close he feels accomplishment. Do not loan him your camera or your wife will find the cleavage pic's "he" took. alfred.gif

Tried to book online but it sez "call us". I sent an email telling them I'm assuming that it's our group that is taking over that weekend! Finally, an entire parking lot "For Porsches Only"! aktion035.gif

Posted by: SLITS May 30 2015, 10:34 AM

Well according to Robert, I have a room now ..... somewhere in the stable av-943.gif

I can only do the 18th thru the 20th for now.

C-Ya!

Oh, Professor 914 will be with me. lol-2.gif

Now to fix the car!

Posted by: Eric_Shea May 30 2015, 11:20 AM

Make sure you speak with Robert. Others have been mistakenly turned away by staff that think the hotel is sold out.

Posted by: ConeDodger May 30 2015, 11:35 AM

Hmm... Only a 10 hour drive. More if I stop and pee. unsure.gif

Posted by: JStroud May 30 2015, 01:58 PM

I reserved a room months ago, but with rennsport changing the date to the weekend before, not sure I'll make it. I also had already bought my rennsport tickets...and they're non refundable. Car is done and would be fine, just not sure about me.

Mid Southern Utah .... many miles from nowhere / many miles to nowhere.

Cedar City is probably the closest major airport.

Quick facts

Escalante is a "city" in Garfield County, Utah, United States located along Utah Scenic Byway 12 in the south central part of the state. As of the 2010 census, there were 797 people residing in the city. As of September 20th 2015 there will be approximately 842 people in Escalante and the majority of operating vehicles (not including wheelchairs) will be Porsche 914's.

Airports? Not a regional nearby but if your flying a Stearman, you can land just about anywhere / it is in the middle of nowhere and quite scenic with occasional long flat patches of ground....

Looks to be around 600 miles from the south coast of California so it is a great desert drive of around 8 hours with one fuel stop........

Escalante has an airport just out side of town. Well, OK, it's more of an airstrip. No fuel. To be honest, it's a long flat strip of paving that is suitable to land a small airplane on. biggrin.gif

Don't you have to buzz the "landing strip" prior to final to chase the cows, chickens, goats, geese, sheep and prairie dogs off?

I'm sure you can get 85 w/ 15% ethanol downtown. Might be a long taxi from the "landing strip". The cops won't mind as they have probably never seen an airplane that was made of metal rather than wood/fabric. You, however, must wear a leather helmet, white silk scarf and goggles to make sure they don't classify you as a "alien". Oh, and bring your golden trumpet to ward off evil (and Professor 914). Garlic helps too!

Do they speak Amerikan or Utah-ese?

Is the nearest restaurant called "Alice's"?

How many hundred miles is it to the nearest liquor store?

Loa has a Deli in the market. Yuuuuummm, Southern Utah Fried Chicken to Go .... cooked in unsaturated Sheep grease (KY)!

I can neither confirm or deny any of your "facts" sir, the only thing I'm really sure of is that Escalante is WAYY out there- even for Utah...
So far as the "unsaturated Sheep grease" goes, it's probably left over from the last female wrestling contest in Cedar City. Not that I'd know... I'm only guessing... maybe from Vernal.... blink.gif

Wish I could make it. The wife and I stayed there almost ten years ago now. Beautiful area. Be sure to catch Calf Creek Falls!

I also recall entering from the northeast, traversing a section of road nicknamed 'The Dog's Back'. Apparently, people out there were one of the last to receive mail by Pony Express? lol I've hung out the open doors of helicopters, and this road gave me vertigo!!

there are a couple more and a bed/breakfast.

You're handy ... you created a rag top for your Teener ... have them weld a couple of attachment poles on your bumpers and rig a hammock or sleep under the wing of your Aeroplane Barney.

Maybe there is a lonely woman that will take you in (multiples are allowed in UT ya know).

If not, you can partner with Erc's sheep.

Jeff is picking me up and loaning me a driver. If I had more time ( and it wasn't hundreds of miles) I would have liked a solo side trip to Mesa verde. still waiting to hear back from mr Lowe on the room opening up at the circle d. Otherwise I'll be across the street at the prospector.

We'll be getting into Escalante Friday afternoon.

We will have a room opening up at the Circle D if anyone is interested. PM me or email me at loweeric at hotmail.com and we can coordinate our cancellation with your reservation.

So someone took your room, Eric ( sad.gif ) but during the time it took to cancel the other person's room and put it back on hold, someone from Germany snatched it up. So that should be interesting. beerchug.gif

I'm not going to make wednesday night. I'll be there thursday. So I will be canceling wednesday nights reservation. If someone wants just that wednesday they are welcome to it. I'll give it until next month before canceling just in case things change & I can get there wednesday instead of thursday.

I'll have a room opening up at the Circle D motel also - I had all days reserved so send me a PM and I can coordinate the switch with the management at that time. Doctor says I still can't put weight on either leg following my accident on June 5th. Let me know and we'll set it up!

Well, the clock is ticking. My Daughter's "Bun in the oven" is close to being done. I told her I would cancel the trip if the little bugger decided to leave home a little early. She told me not to cancel as she was absolutely sure he would be in the sunshine prior to the event.

I told her to turn up the heat and git 'er done or turn down the heat and let him cook a bit longer. For now, it is day to day. She has another inspection scheduled for next Wednesday.

We will see ...............

Hey Sharon, still need a head count for meals (sorry, just poked my head in and saw that). Nicole and I will be there Thursday afternoon and pln on heading back Sunday around noonish.

I'll check my projectors and see if I can get something working with my laptop for the movies.

Also, I'll throw out some "Escalante" only type attractions. Lower Calf Creek Falls is spectacular and right on the road to Torrey. I'd be happy to lead a hike there on the way back. It's listed as "moderate" but it will take 3-4 hours. Plan accordingly.

Devils Garden and Peek-a-Boo Canyon are some other major attractions in that area. Peek-a-Boo is a killer slot canyon.

Its getting close!

I can bring you a speedo if it's a stock 901 tranny. Of course you have to come to get it wink.gif . I hear you on low funds. I'm right there with you. I need a damn break though so my credit card is going to take a hit this trip. LOL! Wouldn't be the first time happy11.gif

Torque app for your cell phone. At least until you get a vss sorted out.

I would think the stock tach would work, just reads double for the v8?

Posted by: JRust Sep 11 2015, 04:43 PM

Speedhut gauges are great. That is what I have in mine. Yeah just use an app on your phone for speed. Rpm's are nothing to worry about. With the v8 you won't be redlining for power anyway evilgrin.gif . Also the newer one's can come with a wire for Cruise control blink.gif . I sent mine back to speedhut just to get that added. They are great to work with & fast. Would have been great to meet you bud. Sorry you can't make it sad.gif

Different route.

The power so linear and smooth I've been using my rev limiter for
