914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Is this normal on a 1.8 head?

Posted by: cdmcse Feb 23 2005, 11:30 PM

I decided while I had the engine out I would remove the tins and clean out the cooling fins. After pulling the intake manifold and looking in the intake port on the heads I noticed there was a distinctive line in there. It seems to be in all 4 intake ports, but it is more pronounced in the #1 cyl head. It didn't seem like a crack, more like a ridge. I think it is one of the following:

1) Casting Lines - Everything is normal
2) Previous Crack Repair - OK it will work
3) New cracks developing sad.gif

So which is it?
