914World.com _ 914World Garage _ how to remove

Posted by: dpires914 Jul 1 2015, 06:12 PM

I decided to cut up my parts car and I'm trying to save some things as I go.

First question is how do i remove without damaging the side pads that the seat belts screw into? I took off the belt and a single screw. Does the clothes hook have to come out?

Thanks
Dave

yes the plastic cover that is the clothes hook slides up and out to reveal a metal bracket with screw

Aha yes. Of course it was that easy. Thank you.

If you are able to cut out this cowl piece, or just cut one good w/wiper round piece out of the sheet metal...that's what I'm looking for. Just leave as much sheet metal around this round shape as possible.
PM me with your price sawzall-smiley.gif
Thanks DaveAttached Image

I haven't reached that part of the car yet. I'll let you know.

Another dumb question.
How do you remove the trailing arms. I've taken off the two nuts from each side of the shaft. Does the bolt shaft slide out? The car is practically laying flat on the ground so I can't see if there is something else to remove.

Remove the Trailing arm support bracket, it's on the outboard side of each trailing arm. There are three bolts per bracket(I think they are 10mm bolts). You may find shims under the bolts or the bracket, keep those if they have not rusted beyond useful.

You're going to have to lift the car. Then you will be able to get to three bolts on each outside mount. They are accessed from below, inside the outer mount. 17mm bolt socket
