Cuda, how might one obtain a hat like the one one the right?

Posted by: Cuda911 Jul 2 2015, 10:23 PM

I drew up the artwork and brought it to the San Diego County fair. There's a vendor here that will make them while you wait. Saw him here last week, and came back to the fair today with my artwork.

Working from my phone herere, so excuse the crappy pix & typos.

He charges $35 for the first one and $25 for each add'l. I have his card and will post the contact info. when i get home. I gave hi m my artwork, so he has it on file. You guys are more than welcome to use it.

He has many colors of hats and thread, so you can personalize for your cars.

Coolio. 25 smackers I'll buy a couple!

Posted by: Cairo94507 Jul 2 2015, 10:50 PM

Me too! Don't be mad, but I will want it to say 914-6 rolleyes.gif

Posted by: falcor75 Jul 3 2015, 03:11 AM

I want something like the left one! Shipping to Sweden will probably cost as much as the hat itself but I'll be pretty....ier....ish. smile.gif

Posted by: gulf908 Jul 3 2015, 03:56 AM

I'm with Mr Cairo - 914-6 that is !
2 for me - what other colour combinations do we have ?
I will be at RR5 in September if that helps with the shipping.
PM if appropriate.

Cheers,
Dennis smile.gif

Mike,

Nice Work & nice design!!!! smilie_pokal.gif

Call me Monday - there may be a better price alternative for a GB, cuz I think you're paying SD County Fair prices for them!

There's a shop in Fullerton which I've used that had something like a $45 set-up fee to digitize your artwork & then $7 per hat to embroider IIRC + cost of hat (near wholesale if enough bought).

I'll find his info over the weekend for you. .... email me if you don't have my cell #.

I'll get 1 or 2 & have him add my "USC in Cherokee Syllabary" he has on file to them too! smile.gif

PS - is "914S" a possibility!?

Happy 4th & Thanx to those who have served! flag.gif

Har-har!

I just offered to hook Mike up for a possibly better price, where the hat guy would handle it - as with Mike's guy! dry.gif

I'm still buried with & catching up from my aunt's death & old house reworking, so no time for GBs myself - let alone car resto! sad.gif

I'm in for a tan one with 914 and 914-6 if you do them.

Posted by: Cuda911 Jul 3 2015, 01:54 PM

I'm sure I could get them made cheaper somewhere if I looked around online. But I was able to check out these hats in person and choose the style I like. They are very high quality hats, and have an adjustment buckle in the back. Life's too short for cheapo hats.

Since I bought two, he knocked down the price a bit.

He has lots of other style hats, in many colors. Dozens of colors of thread.

The blue hat above has silver thread for the car, to match my '74, and the tan hat has blue thread to match my '73. I brought photos of the cars and he selected thread colors that were a very close match.

Here's the contact info.:

Just send him an email, and maybe attach my photo from above, and he will hook you up with the hat of your choice!

I understand perfectly Mike!

The shop I used was great quality too, & I'd actually checked with your shop for my embroidery job, but IIRC they were backlogged at the time.

The one I used was e4hats at the link below - also good people to work with.

http://www.e4hats.com/fullerton-store

I'll go see your Anaheim guy to get 1 or 2 made when I get the chance!

Happy 4th!

The company owner was very helpful and did a great job, so I always like to give my business to companies like that.

Posted by: Cairo94507 Jul 3 2015, 04:53 PM

Given the option, I would always try to do business with small business owners. smilie_pokal.gif

If you guys get this sorted out so the lazy guys (me unsure.gif ) can just place the order, I would be in for probably 3 hats - 1 for me others would be gifts.

Christmas wacko.gif is just around the corner and these would make great stocking stuffers. wreath.gif

Mike has it all set up, just call or email his guy in Anaheim CA at his post above.

I just followed-up with the small business owner with whom I'd worked on some other hat embroidery project as a fyi for members on future stuff. So there are 2 sources close to each other which do this type of work, & both do great work for reasonable prices.

Sorry for the confusion.

Place your orders for this design at Mike's post #14 - that's it done & dunn!

PS - no "Groul Buys" either! ... that's okay, I know that we Architects are bad spellers! laugh.gif

I want an orange one also. If you end up ordering, let me know. Maybe we could split shipping on a few since we're both in Modesto. I could also meet you finally if we did that. Always cool meeting fellow teeners.

Well I know arkitect (Dave) is one smile.gif

There is an old club member named Andrew who is one but I dont know if he's still around 914's...

I only remember it as I wanted to be a architect when I was young, took my first ride in a 914 when I was ~10 by Andrew and had a nice conversation with him. It was only Ironic that years later when looking for my first car that the 914 really struck my fancy.

Posted by: Cuda911 Jul 4 2015, 08:06 PM

Ok, guys.... I'm trying to see if I can put together a Group Buy on the hats. Details will follow. So, hold off placing any hat orders for now.

Funny how that fate works!

I wasn't planning to do a GB since I'm swamped with work, but Sara says she may be interested in putting it together.

I talked to the vendor. I'll need a commitment for 50 of them.

Let me work out some numbers and details.

I'm in for a grey hat with silver thread.
