Looks pretty crusty (not Krusty...then it would be AWESOME) but intact.

No interest at all, just pointing it out.
Always amazes me these turn up after being burred for years. Cool !
C'mon Len, go have a look.
I know you want to...
I wonder if that is numbers matching. Sure looks pretty original. Definitely needs a complete restoration.

$16,100 & reserve not met, in that condition. Genuine sixes are really getting pricey!
My hopes of ever finding a -6 just died if that rotted out one still brings in that kind of dough...
Maybe its Magnus bidding on it!
Center storage bin top is gone... .
Yeah the days of $30k buying you a NICE one are gone. I guess you only wish it was still like that if you DON'T own one now. If you do, good for you .
Looks like original Dunlap tires and a good restoration car. Wish I had the money
Wonder what the reserve is?
I just bought a barn find 1970-6 last week in the San Jose /Monterey area of California. It is not listed on the http://p914-6info.net/ so I can find no earlier info on the car.
But if you people think at 16k that car is expensive then I think I made a big booboo... oh well
I would give $15-16K for it.
There is a limit.
Where is that car?
Where's NY?
Lol.
Do the door gaps look weird? Check the drivers side front. Pretty wide at the bottom. Someone needs to go look at this thing...
And who did the weird bid ? $16,867.76 and NOT A PENNY MORE!
Thanks T.C.
Though it seems by this thread I paid too much for this 6 it kind of fell into my lap and as much as I know about some Porsche's I know a 914-6 is mid engine and that is about it. Just enough to get myself in trouble
I did check with a friend at the factory and it is numbers matching.
It is what it is but this will be a nice car when I am finished with it.
Hopefully yours isn't as rough as the one being discussed here. Condition is so very important with these cars--it is easy to spend more than they are worth on fixing structural rust...

Half the joy of purchasing a classic car is the enjoyment of restoring it playing with it and searching out the parts. If you got all that then you got a good deal...
I have restored a few Porsche's so I am no stranger to that process and understand the advantages of having a complete car that is not full of rust. This 914 has some areas that need attention but not bad and very complete.
Helltoe914 your car looks a lot like a guy I ran with in the mid 90's named Bill Newlin
Yup, that's Newlin's old car. You knew Bill? Cool, I used to autoX with him at one point. He drove me to John Clever's memorial in his 928; I think that's the last time I talked to him.
--DD
Both of us were members of the GGR of PCA. Bill was more of a auto x and time trial guy and I pretty much raced but did do some time trialing with the club.
Last time I saw Bill and his wife Rebecca was when I won the Porsche Parade race at Thunderhill around 2000. Rebecca sang the National Anthem. Can't remember if Bill raced or not.
I recognized the car right away even in that little photo.
Very nice people .
Hey Van,
Welcome to the 914world.
Paul
Another turbo guy seduced by the 914, good to have you here!
Millerton NY is near Lime Rock Ct.
Pretty sure his car belongs to a family of known Porsche enthusiasts.
EEK, $21,600 for this one on ebay, wow!
I understand that these can go for $70K+ if restored well, but man I'll just have to be happy if I can find a decent 2.0 for around $10K when I'm ready...
Paul ! Guys thanks for the warm welcome !
I feel okay about the purchase. Would have liked to have paid less but at least I got a car that is pretty clean. Other than a couple of wrinkles on the passenger side door and some rust on the back edge of the rear deck lid the body is real straight, no accidents and original paint , though very faded. Battery tray has a little surface rust in spots but solid.
I like cars no one has ever seen before. My yellow #84 935 is like that. I think I am the fourth owner and between me and the previous owner it has been in our hands since 1988. Though there is nothing wrong with it, it is nice when you go to an event and five different people there didn't own your car before you did.
Ebay car
reserve met at $27,500.00 with a day to go
So, the bid is up to $27,500.00. I wonder if these bidders have noticed that the ad makes no reference to any documentation. The seller does not make any reference to title work. That's a lot of money to fork over without having clear title in hand.
Seller does however state, "Car sold as is With NO warranties or guaranties".
Scroll to the bottom of the bid page you will see:

Whomever this is "u***u ( 1 )" is willing to pump it up to $29,500.00.
At this point a lot of people should retract their bids as well. It's all suspicious and that car is very rough. It almost looks like it has suffered water damage.
Seller has a feedback score of 11. All of the feedback is over one year old and 9 of that was for purchases. So, he actually has a seller feedback score that is 100% positive for the past twelve months because it is blank for 12 months. He has 100% positive of nothing.
what it looks like is that bidder bid the 29.5 and may have gotten past the reserve price, then decided to retract those high bids and go back to bumping his own lower
bids once he figured out what the reserve range was. .
Then I got an EBay message that the the seller lowered the reserve... still always seems fishy when a bidder with a '1' feedback gets involved and the effect is the prices gets bumped up. .
What I don't get is this car will require a minimum of $30-40 K to get it right and make it worth the $70-80 K that driver Six's go for.
When the auction clearly say's "Needs Floors Replaced" that is cause to be concerned that what it should include is 'Longitudinal's need replacing"
It's back on eBay!

Yeah, that poor car is very rough. That's a $50-60K restoration assuming it is all there to begin with. That is a $20K car as it sits. Hope someone rescues it and restores it.
The failing re-paint in the front trunk and the body color front bumper are not good signs.
Didn't it sell at 39k last time? Guess the buyer changed their mind? This one is not too far from me but money I don't have.
Brett
Listed VIN is missing a number....
I looked at this one around 4 years ago. It went for 21K on ebay and was not much better.
It dis run, but the paint was a disaster.
Attached thumbnail(s)
I wonder where the front trunk vin plate went? Don't see it in the pics.
Brett
Forgot to follow up on this. Sold for the buy it now price of $34,500...
It's back again? There's definitely something fishy going on here...

Cars a rotbox most likely, mouldy damp storage, the door panels and most of the interior are slowly disentergrating, really if this area is doing this what is the body like ,well on the way also......as the overused saying "run Forrest run".
Barn find whats that ? a damp wet leaking building to put tractors animals and such like, besides the seller appears to be a little dodgy
And now this "barn find" is up on craigslist for $5,000???????
http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/cto/5810517499.html
This car was for sale not very far from me originally. Now says in Florida? I contacted the seller to see what they say. Has to be a scam.
Brett
For sure.. What's wrong people get a real job.
