914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Oooze from my trans---so what do I need?

Posted by: pSquared Jul 28 2015, 04:25 PM

Getting a messy seep from where the arrow's pointing.

Betting I just remove the 2 - 13mm's that hold the shift housing and hopefully I can
pull apart and replace the O-Ring I see in the parts diagram.

Any other gaskets? Or anything else I should procure to stem the seepage? And where might I find?

(hopefully there's no explosion of springs and microscopic little parts that come flying
out when I pull the housing. Ask why I wonder...)

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Common leak point. A couple of o rings and you're good to go.

1 O-ring and you are done. Clean the surface well. There should not be any gaskets on there. If there are, someone made a mistake. While your at it, might as well change the seal in the console. I think I have both. PM me and I will check. Need to do so soon as I am in the wind as of Thurs afternoon and not back until Mon.

Follow the Dr.s advice and you won't go wrong.

And by the way, my trans is still AWESOME after the rebuild! I say a little thanks to the Dr on every drive.
