So as to not take away from Family events; e.g. Soccer, Baseball, Beach Outings; etc., etc.
I'm in for any runs near me. Otherwise, I'll work on my car. And I do as you do, Eddy. I get up early and hit the trails by myself. One other thing. If you leave it up to everyone to decide which route it will never happen. Like herding cats. Just pick one. Some will be able to make it, others won't. beerchug.gif
PS, This Sunday is a Hot one.

Good morning Eddy, like what you have said and 76-914, family event is the priority and I support that. Maybe it is just my family that usually at home saturday morning. And every sunday we are at our church almost the whole day.

Now you're talking! It is so fun to drive up there and the scenery is spectacular. I can't imagine the hassle factor that comes with that stellar view, though. I live down below but take various 'scenic routes' over the top from Agoura to work in Santa Monica a couple days a week. Yesterday's selection was Mulholland to Old Topanga and back home the same way (normally I don't do that, I switch it up).

So my 914 is not very streetable, but I am about to toss a muffler on it and it can do the canyon stuff, just no freeway cruising or putting around in traffic. I'd be up for a gathering/fun-run in our neck of the woods some time.

Newbie here. Been following you guys for awhile. Beautiful 914's boys. Live about two miles from the canyon and Cooks. Wish I would have rolled. Next time!

All the paint jobs look exceptional!

Would like to put some new paint on the 74 1.8. Any suggested shops in the south OC area?

Thx

Three Sixes total
-Two factory sixes and my 3.2 six conversion
One V8
Three 914-4's
Can't remember the details on each (sensory overload).

Ive seen 3 914s in the last week. Because Im driving my E30 you guys usually dont notice me or look my way until I honk.

Ive seen a green one with the flares and two narrow bodied ones, one blue and the other yellow. I dont know whats going on, but its always exciting to see them out.

btw on topic, I have the map that Petrolicious used for their most recent rally. I only completed ~20 of the 80 mile course. There were ZERO 914s at the event and I was the only E30 so maybe I could tag along and we could make that the next event...

Im busy on the 8th, but the following weekend, I can probably convince my girlfriend to join me on a cruise.

One of the coolest things about the drive was bringing up the rear and listening to the note of a six at full song as we made our way up the canyon in a line. Each car made a different sound as each hit the pedal. Each had different personality of sound.

The fog was cool too as we dipped in and out of it.

See you guys on the next one.

That's a pretty busy intersection. There used to be a Denny's at that intersection that you could gather at but it's been torn down! I believe there are still places to pull to the side and meet at the 243/Ortega intersection. Might want to check it out, Eddy. I might make this if I finish Mark's car in time!

any car!! P-car is better.. but attendance is what gets the information flowing.....

My son flew in from AZ to (hopefully) check out Eddy's 8 as he,.. Clayton is a confirmed Chevelle BB guy and will be in charge of my v-8 conversion if that is the direction de jour......

I am over the four concept and it was a fine learning experience.

What I can say is.. never Never have in your stable a 993VR and a 1.7 914 at the same time/ it almost pushed me out of the 914World and back into the spritz-bottle clammy (misspelled on purpose) world of door-ding paranoid stuffed shirts and the like.. // the contrast in sheer acceleration, G's, braking, is quite different- you know,.. all the good stuff,./... is too great Man!

Don't go there..
Don't do it Man!!

On the positive side, I have a great suspension front and back built into this 914 ride and it can handle anything within reason that can be stuffed into the engine bay - given a cutting torch or Makita and a wheel...

I really like the idea of cutting away all of the trunk deck and doing tube or box-tube reinforcement frame to create the same structural integrity as all that sheet metal accomplished ../ then access is from the top verses the underside and, at the end of the day, it is easier to clean everything top down. Heat is another issue....

Heat.

My God Man, the heat... and the raggedy cloths.... (apologies to Elaine Bennis)

Eddy will shine some light on the v-8 heat issues as his ride seems to have it fully under control / more to learn on the drive tomorrow / meeting at 6am on the Ortega//

It may sound worked but an early morning rip up and down PCH is the envy of many East coast 914teeners / With the fires blazing the mountain routes, maybe a run on flat land with a good brake-fast place aklong the way would work in the meantime.

I'm in wherever the next one is staged.

I love the hair dryer heaters!! Super clean and straight body. He switched the DC motors for AC motors. When he rev'd the two AC motors, my daughter cringed and said it sounded like the dentist drill.

Posted by: Beach914 Sep 6 2015, 03:12 PM

For those curious, He said the car was 2700lbs, balance was 1300 up front and 1400 in the rear.

Posted by: Maltese Falcon Sep 6 2015, 04:17 PM

I viewed an electric powered 914 at a cruise-in and it must have had bad longs.
The front+ rear battery weight must have caused the upper door gaps to be at 1/32" blink.gif

Malaga cove plaza is good and easy to find. It has a country like store and coffee shop.

The other good spot is Lunada bay has a french pasty shop where a few Ferrari guys usually meet.

Either one is good and you can do a lap of PV including the switch backs. I prefer charging up the switchbacks rather than descending them. This means touring the PV hill counter clockwise. Either way is fun. driving-girl.gif

You can continue on back down into Redondo Beach.

I recommend starting at the Starbucks at (28166 South Western Avenue, San Pedro, CA 90732) Behind Carrows restaurant.

This would set up a good route to hit PV and use both sides of the switchbacks. driving.gif

We could end the PV section at Malaga Cove Plaza (Re group). Then easy onward to Redondo Beach from there. driving.gif

What is your planned route around PV ? Where are you going to end the drive ?

If you take the switch backs up and back down you will end up heading towards Redondo Beach. You would not get much coast scenery.

Other option would be head back up Western to PV Drive N. then up the switchbacks and back down to PV Drive West clockwise towards Redondo.

Route is open to change, but I was thinking meet at Starbucks on western and 25th. Head up the switchbacks, through pv towards the city hall. ¿Head up to redondo, eat?
Then take the coast back down.

But you're the local, I'm open to your route as well.

Just seeing this this evening. I really have to plan ahead to get up early enough to do a dawn run any more yellowsleep[1].gif ... dry.gif

I had a PV route made up several years ago (2009) that was a nice drive ... started after breakfast at the Pacific Diner in San Pedro, up the hill to PV Drive east, then around the peninsula clock-wise (with a few photo-op stops), then it ended at where my old shop was in Harbor City ... (roughly, 27 miles).

Here's the route map (with GPS coordinates): http://goo.gl/maps/VgpAk

FYI, the local fuzz are watching PV Drive east a lot these days ... speeding crotch-rockets and sports cars are their main targets on this twisty stretch of road down to the coast now mad.gif

What is a good time to show up at this get together. I might drive down the day before and stay at a hotel. Sounds fun. Do I have to re-join the PCA to attend? biggrin.gif

If you haven’t been to Seal Beach before it’s got an old-time Main Street atmosphere between PCH and the Seal Beach Pier. Plenty of interesting shops and just a pleasant atmosphere; wives and kids can have fun here. Parking on Main Street is free.
And, Main Street has 3 Irish pubs for the adventurous.... smile.gif
