That sucks. However, the reality is the car probably wasn't much better than that when it was shipped. $50K will barely buy you a rolling shell for a '62 XKE OTS. Restored ones are big bucks....

If I buy anything valuable I call my insurance agent and he puts a policy in place immediately and emails me confirmation. I can get it done with the vin and some basic info. Just one of the reasons I use a local broker.

I've had the same local insurance broker for about 15 years. They know me by name. All it takes is a phone call and a VIN, mileage, and a verbally agreed upon value to get coverage.
