Good feedback, but in the pictures, it looks like on of the heads has a couple hols or something in the side. The 3rd and 5th picture.... see?
Anyway, what do you guys think? Is this a decent deal? It worries me that there are no bids.
I'd be getting them rebuilt.....
Thanks!
Cole
they look as if they were used as boat anchors--there is a tremendous amount of corrosion there--I would be skepticle--depending on how much metal has given it up to the cancer gods they may need $$$$$$$ to repair properly--
At least the guy took good pics of them--

You can take your chances...but the guy is on the other side of the country.....what "I" would do is contact him and discuss it after the auction and see if he could have them inspected by a reputable shop....have them rebuilt and THEN buy them....
All he can say is Yes or No....
Looks like some serious damage when that valve let go, the opposite head looks like piston chunks have seared to it.
Bank on a full rebuild, welding and grinding to straighten things back out. Probably an easy $1000 bucks in servicing, add that to the cost. I think you would sleep better at night paying a chunk more on a pair of heads in runnable or rebuilt shape to begin with - you will be money ahead.
yeah they look like crap. I have some 2L heads i'd trade for a working 1.7 engine...

naw....WKU spring break is in like 18 days. I'll just drive down to CA and grab a engine from you all.
Even at half the price he's asking, it would be a little risky.
