I'm in the midst of a water-cooled engine conversion and am seriously thinking about sealing up the the engine lid and the 2 areas to the side of the engine lid that are open. I am tired of soaking the engine compartment when I wash the vehicle, etc. However, I realize I will still need to allow for air to enter the engine bay. What about a side air vent on the body directing airflow into the engine bay? Do you think enough air will get in? I have seen a couple of cars with vents but didn't know how practical. Do the boxster's work? What do you think?
Check here for someone who has added some functional side intakes:

I like the intakes on that car. I have some on mine, but I doubt they are functional. I think I'll go with some like on the blue car, and paint them to match my car/
the 944 bumper is pretty cool too. I want to try
that.
