Looks like there were at least 4 other 914's in the yard. Someone needs to save them.

Was that one in Oklahoma? I think I looked at it a couple years ago.

Maybe? I've had it since Sep 2015.

Lots of recent photos. Some I'm posting here just so I don't lose them later on.

My first time getting this far into an engine. Trying to figure out what needs replacing. Any initial thoughts on the condition of these lifters? Still useable if I rebuild the 1.7?

Hold them nose-to-nose. There should be a slight crown to them, so they should only touch in the middle. If they're flat against each other, they're wiped.

At a guess, they look pretty wiped...

They're wiped. They're done. Thanks for the expertise.

Those barrels look like 96mm "slip in" type ,really thin @ the top dry.gif .
Plan on getting your heads bored out if you stay with 96mm piston kit ,its a good upgrade from stock anyway.

How much crown? I was out in the shop moving stuff around and decided to look at some I had. Out of the 3 sets not a single one had any crown.

The crown isn't visible just looking at them, but if you hold them nose-to-nose, you should see light around the edges. Plus you can rock them a little relative to each other.
