Did you get the VIN? Hopefully that VIN doesn't end up on another car. There was some guy in the 914 Facebook group last week trying to sell 914 VINs, and that got shut down real quick.

If you spend enough money any car can be restored. The question is; is it worth it???
Since it is not my money I say yes.
