914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914 shocks in 911 struts?

Posted by: jgiroux67 Mar 5 2005, 02:51 PM

I was takin out my old 914 struts and so that i could put the 5 lug 911 ones in and I noticed that everthing ws the same size. My 914 shocks went right in the 911 struts with no problems. Is this fine to do or should I use shock inserts that were made for 911's?

I think it's preferable to use 914 shock inserts because they are designed for the weight of 914 rather than a 911.

When I did my upgrade (put in 71 911 strut assemblies) the strut inserts looked identical. My 914 had the factory muhollands in them and the 911 had koni's. When I pulled the inserts out everything seemed the same dimension wise. Kept the koni's in just because they are better in my opinion.
