i cant seem to get the shifter bar to come loose. I removed the screw(where the arrow is) and i lightly tapped it with a mallet but i wont break loose. What should i do?

Put a vice grip on very low tension upstream of the shift tube--only enough to grab it gently and not cave it in or mar it up too much--then rotate it from side to side in very small increments while putting tension on it towards the firewall--and it will come out-
That siezure is just from years of being mated up---
Get someone to sit in the passenger compartment. Have them put the shifter in 2/4 gear, and hold it.
Sometimes all you need is to keep pressure on the shift rod in the opposite direciton.
Then take a mallet and tap the fitting loose.

Some liquid wrench won't hurt.
thanks for the advice!
