914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Creamsicle Project

Posted by: McMark Sep 26 2015, 08:59 AM

Man, this has been a rad project. I can't believe it's finally done. This is the first full restoration I've done where we didn't make any upgrades. Stock 2.0, stock suspension and brakes, just a few tweaks (removed side markers, SSIs, and non-stock muffler).

It's come a long way! w00t.gif

I hate how much I like the shaved warts. Makes me want to shave mine but alas, I won't.

Very nice Mark, I saw that car in person, looked great...

Rumor is it is going on the "wrong" side of the pond? smile.gif

Poly-bronze suspension bushings (or are those the bearings?), Tangerine Racing muffler, SSIs... Nope, no upgrades there! wink.gif

Mark

It looks really fantastic and we appreciate your hard work and skill.

It was a proper resto project and not an "upgrade", intended to come back to Europe, as the rarity that it is, and without the "warts".

Its a thing of integrity and beauty, thank you Mark for all your hard work. We appreciate it.

Looks terrific Mark. It looks as if it is riding a little lower than stock too....or is that just the angle at which the pictures were taken?

Brian, Kate,

I have updated the 914 LE Registry with the new location and photos for this car...I think it may be the only Creamsicle in the UK!

Congratulations on saving this rare 914.

I've just gotten permission to let the proverbial cat out of the bag.

This LE will not be going to the UK. Wrong ocean!

The U.K. Owners have sold it to a buyer in New Zealand! It will be leaving soon for its ocean crossing. For now, after Mark finished it, it has been moved to my smog shop in Sonoma.

I had the pleasure of doing a PPI on the car for the New Zealand buyer and it is one of the finest 914's, and possibly the finest LE I have laid eyes on...

Buyer thinks it may be the only Creamcicle in NZ!

True...914LE cars are not only in continental USA, but also throughout Europe, Hawaii, Japan, Mexico and now New Zealand.

CONGRATULATIONS to all who had a role in saving this Creamsicle.

I was talking to Michael Nagy one day at an RGruppe event at EASY and he was talking about having found the car. I realized after a minute or two that he was talking about this car. It sounds like it came a long ways to get to the condition it that it is in now...

Posted by: ConeDodger Oct 7 2015, 10:08 AM

Oh, and I forgot to mention how great it was to start and drive a car that has 'functional' DJet! evilgrin.gif

Fantastic looking restoration Mark! Top of your game.

Good luck back East!

Congratulations to the new owner! I'm glad you found one! I just couldn't give mine up. You'll soon see why. smile.gif

Welcome to LE Club!

Yesterday, at 4pm, the Creamsicle departed my shop for the trip to Long Beach and eventually, New Zealand.

New owner, Steve, says he will keep us posted. Total time at sea is expected to be 4 weeks + a couple weeks in Long Beach. bye1.gif

There aren't many 914's in NZ anyway let alone one of these,I have been told there is one genuine six and 2 -6 copies (mine included),the rest are 4 cyl ones @ various places up and down both islands.
The PO of my car mentioned a few owners that I could contact ,hard car to do here as there are basically no parts around.
Ever increasing shipping costs and our weak New Zealand dollar do nothing to help the with oversea's purchase of parts.
