914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear upper shock mount

Posted by: Rob-O Oct 6 2015, 07:19 AM

I noticed that the upper bushing cup on the left side was loose. When I removed the nut from the shock, sure enough the metal cup portion came right off. Looks like it was swaged on in six spots originally. Not sure how to reattach. Drill six small holes and weld some rosettes? The six original dimples are pretty small. Maybe wouldn't need to replicate the swag with a weld. Maybe just three welds? Anybody got an idea? confused24.gif

Sorry for the upside down pics, not sure how to fix that.

For a stock car, I would probably drill some holes in the cup and then plug weld it back on. My car did the same and I got the relocation pieces from Racer Chris http://tangerineracing.com/chassis.htm
