So 4702901545 was part of a package deal of 5 cars bought this summer in Michigan. It is by far the worst condition of the litter. I picked up Saturday and brought it home. Took a little time to look it over and noticed it has some very early 914 parts on it that are different than the mid 1970 and up cars. Sadly the door jamb sticker is gone and so is the chassis plate so I don't have build date info.

Some time in the past the front fenders were removed and later style ones where screwed & riveted on. Also drives door has been changed. The passenger sports the very early style narrow inside door handle and the pedal board has longer end on it and the drives seat track has the straight adjustment handle on it. The seatbelts have a 1971 date on the so wonder if they were changed out sometime in the past?

Anyway it is always neat to find these very early cars and see all the little design changes that Porsche did during the early 70 model year.

But there are no hollow areas behind the door jamb that would make use of such a treatment.

Anything sprayed through those holes would just fall to the ground ...

Tell that to the kid back in 1970 who prepped it at the dealer and drilled all the holes to spray in the goop and charge the customer 150 bucks of 1970 money.

I had a 78 924 that had the black tar slathered everywhere and holes all over the place...Made it so hard to work on all the hardware was coated in black tar !

Such an awesome color. Even though the car is toast, it's still a shame it was ever changed...especially to my least favorite color!

10/69 or 11/69 build. That's early.

I have one of those straight arm seat adjusters as well in case you need an extra one for the museum.

I recall the number painted on the back of the metal dashboard might provide a clue to build date.

I had it on a white 75 that I gave to 914itis and yes, holes everywhere including behind the door jam.

I have the same adjuster on my -6 (build date 01/70). When did those change?

My six with build date of 02/70 has the straight arm seat adjuster as well. Around the headlight housings the metal portion above the headlight cover is perforated. I haven't seen it on any other 914. Maybe it's an early as opposed to late thing.
