I'm guessing you are aware of these products,used extensively in marine apps.

Interesting, but all I see for product is Rustoleum at hardware stores.
Rust Anode (Galvatech 2000) has some Quebec dealers listed, but they look more like manufactures and I don't see prices listed.

Quick look says Galvatech 2000 can be applied over rust and Rustoleum (on the home debit site) says it can't....

There are other products that claim to inhibit or arrest rust corrosion. Which one?
Rust Converter
POR 15
Eastwood Rust Encapsulator
Rust Bullet
Right Stuff
Hammerite
etc.

There are standardized test procedures (ANSI) for corrosion protection. Not sure about these:

Wide open market,each vendor cites the advantage of their stuff,that makes a difference and allows you to cherrypick.
I'm sure some of this wonder compound cannot be used under A1 skins,but internal spaces can be done,to inhibit FeO.
A few of these product can be used under the shiny topskins of the 914,the purest,most finely divided in a 40um application thickness.
The underlying steel substrate's roughness is what gives the epoxy (or other) primer its tooth to provide a sandable datum.
Query the vendors,give it a whirl and discover you can run your 914 in the saltysnow environs of the Gatineau Hills.

A dozen yrs ago,did fourteen or so,heavy machining,gearboxes,reduction gears...
I did a search here for the subject,but got no return.
All of this 'stuff' has been around for years,it's standard procedure in the machining field.
You see it all around you,commercial buildings,infrastructure,fencing.
Building gensets and power transmission gear for offshore use makes it mandatory,you know,to stop the rust.
I had assumed the world was aware of it,but it didn't come up in a few other threads.
Get it,prep for it,apply it and observe your 914 not rusting before your eyes.

A 914 impervious to Canadian Salt and seawater has to be a good thing.
Imagine your trailing arms not covered in a encrusting of flakey FeO.

We use high zinc cold galzanizing in our buisness as well for touch up galvanizing and have been doing it for a pong time. Its what I used in the "mini v8 thread"...

I rebuilt a boat trailer this summer and used the Rustoleum product extensively. Dipped it in and out of salt water all summer. Will have to see what it looks like after the winter.

Yeah,that's some of the stuff available from Crown,among their wonderstuff,Used the graphite colloidal,molybdenum lube.Good products.
Some of the work on these cars is the 10/10 level and the 'total'prep and application of the zinc anodic coating should be de rigueur for the 914.
The same efforts used in aero apps,alodine,epoxy,zinc chromate.

I even like the look of the treatment,as someone has done to the int of their 914.
I think it was the color of the paint he used in a half-flat olive tone.

Used the LPS products too,as our supplier carries it.
A point of advantage is the ability to use less U-coating to lighten up.
A unseen aggressor is slowly consuming your 914,a spray on defense is a way to peace of mind.

Some of this is suitable to spot repair,the 2K Zinc Epoxy is most suitable for A1 panels.
A second 2K Epoxy primer to seal and provide a sandable substrate.
A solution for the harsh climate 914 owner/restorer/modifier.
The attention to details of preparation is what makes it work.

What are you trying to accomplish? I have used zinc based paint with good results but it’s not galvanized zinc at the end of the day.

When I stripped my engine bay to the bare metal, I used a hand held electric zinc plating “system” imported from Germany - no sorry, I can’t remember the name.

It’s basically like this kit (https://www.eastwood.com/ew-electroplating-system-tin-zinc.html), however, the zinc anode was covered in a sheep fur “mitten”, that was saturated in the electrolyte and electrically connected to a 12v battery and the body.

I zinc electro plated the complete engine bay in less than two hours.
