I bought the SmartCamber gauge but since buying it I've found that the digital measuring unit is available in tool stores. One could easily make this tool for $100.
Here is the module for $89 at Amazon:

I figure that one could easily attach it to an aluminum square:

I would cut the square down to the size of your rim (15-16-17") (buy two squares if you have more than one rim size) and then just hold it up to the lip of the rim to take the measurement.
If there was a problem squaring the digital unit to the square I guess it would be pretty easy to addd some leveling screws to the bottom of the square just like the smart camber unit has.
Mine cost bout 10 bucks...a hand level & a broke off section of tape measure. ....oh, and a 5 buck calcumulater.
Something like this?

Where were these pics before I paid $240??? BTW, the hands free attachment on the SmartCamber unit is useless unless you don't mind scratching your Fuchs.
