Does anyone know of a manual with a good discription on re-assembling a 901 Transmission?
Thanks, Tom
This thread:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=18128 and the Redbeard article will go a long way to helping. They aren't 100% complete, but close. Bondo's thread shows disassembly, so read it backwards. There is a link to the Redbeard article in Bondo's thread.

The factory manual is useful too, and also has important things like torque specs.
Funny thing: I still haven't reassembled one of these.. but I've disassembled 5 or 6
here's another thats helpful:

I swapped my 912 gears out last week for 914 gears- just the 3/4/5 gears. I'd never worked inside a trans before, was a 1st for me.
It wasn't typically like an "easy" job...but if you're decently mechanically inclined you can do it. It NOT real hard. The ONLY thing you can screw up is getting the pieces back on in the wrong order. if every spacer and shim goes back where it was then you're set.
Ive rebuilt 5 or 6 using a shop factory repair manu.its easy, you just have to know something about a trans.. i work in a porsche specialist shop
