Okay everyone,
I am in the process of switching over to the European style front turn signal lights. Can anyone tell me what the functions are of each light. Does the bottom light stay on constant? Does the yellow portion function as a parking light and turn signal still? Just trying to get this right.

The lower white portion is the parking lights. . Yellow is turn.
In a real Euro light bucket, the top [turn] connector is a single filament
socket, The spade wire connectors have a different physical arrangement than a USA bucket.
Euro bucket is on the top in the picture, notice the single spade with the insulated base. . this is the lower [white] light lead

And yes the white light is on the whole time and only the amber one blinks on turn signal.

Easy way to get that function with the euro lenses is to get Spoke's LED bulbs. He makes one that works great, plug and play. Have them on my '73.
Never have figured out though why people put on the euro lenses, but leave those hideous side bulbs...

Change amber lens to split clear/amber
Feed power to new bulb from removed marker lamp cable. I only ran extra earth for peace of mind. US lamp housings have pins cast to hold the extra power cable. I heat shrunk over old terminal thats made redundant to prevent confusion in what to reconnect. Use standard twin bulb in amber position but only one filament in use (otherwise its a bigger job to change bulb holder)

This info is very helpful since I need to do this next on my car. Now if I can only figure out how to clean the crud off of the outside of the housings so they look nicer.

Mine were awful, covered in stone guard, tar, sand and dirt.
White spirit and a brass bristle detail wire brush got them like you see in the pictures.

Now that's done right,even nicer than the ones offered on ebay Germany,the two other suppliers in the US could learn a lessen on how to make them from you, great skills.

its pretty funny all this stuff converting us spec lighting to euro spec.
i would love to run my 914 american spec in aus.
its so pretty american spec night lighting.
but i am not allowed to.
but i managed to avoid the parker light bs in the front lenses by incorporating it into the pop up head lights. i have parkers in those.
which let me run the full orange lenses as pure indicators here in aus.
the grass is always greener on the other side?
i even like warts!

We're not supposed to run Euro specs in the states. Gives law enforcement something to do on a slow night. I got pulled over one evening. Trooper, "What kind of Fiat is this?". Me, "the Porsche kind".

So US regulations require the vehicle to have amber marker lights on the front? My Euro front turn signals can be configured to have the amber turn signal portion on gently for running lights although they are not configured for that now. Just need to add one resistor to the board.

US DOT calls for amber side markers in the front and red side markers in the rear. Their reasoning is that it gives an indication of the direction a vehicle is traveling when viewed from the side. I haven't read anything in the specs that would make the euro front signals with clear parking/running lights illegal. Deleting the side markers for the pure euro look is. Here's how I stayed barely legal after deleting the warts.
I addressed the rear color issue by installing red led bulbs int he side marker position. Amber lens shows when lights are off, but lights up red when they are on.

I like them...Just wish I could make them blink..opposite of the front blinker..
