914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Change in plans on dads car

Posted by: scotty b Mar 19 2005, 05:23 PM

For the first time i have been given free reign to do what I want on a 914. It is possible because it is for my dad. After trying to get himn to tell me what he wants in the end he said "I'll leave it up to you, you're a lot better with this stuff than I am" So I have deviated slightly from my original plan to this.

I have actually considerd this in the past. wacko.gif I do a fair amount of work on Jeeps and to give you an idea, a CJ-7 wheelbase is 95 inches and a 914 wheelbase is 94.5. You do the math ohmy.gif

If you do that just enter it in the monster truck jam when they let the street leagle cars and trucks race around the jumps.

Isn't there a guy down in Florida doing something similar to his car? I think he calls it Black Sabbath, or something.

You should do yours in white (call it Whitesnake), and then you could have a Good vs. Evil or Spy vs. Spy thing going on.

It is ideas like this that keeps most dads from saying such things to their sons.

8-bolt wheels from a 3/4 ton truck? Don't like the rims but agree with the tire choice. Run those T/A's on my big block Suburban; very quiet and smooth riding tires and not bad in the rain. Original Equipment on the H-2, though in a larger size. One suggestion, open the wheel wells to fit the rubber sawzall-smiley.gif

huh.gif I honestly do not know how mine got so tall--and it has 1 1/2 inch lowered coils on the back--- dry.gif Gonna have to do some cuttin--hopefully when I get the rest of the weight on it, it will go back to normal-- unsure.gif

They raced 914's in the Baja 500 in the '70's. And there are more Porsche 4's and 6's used today than you could count.

I'm obviously NOT doing this to his car but as I said, I HAVE considerd it. I'd love to roll out at Hatteras with the top off, rods mounted to the rollbar and nail it just to see the expressions ohmy.gif ohmy.gif biggrin.gif ohmy.gif huh.gif w00t.gif I do enough Jeep work I can always find a donor CJ to use. It would definitly be Jeep frame and drivetrain with a 914 body. But just think about it idea.gif
