I try to post pics directly from iPhone and they must be too large. I've had to email them to myself, resize, then upload.
Is there a better way to do this ?

Photo app. I use photobucket. Resizes pics automatically. I just copy the image code and paste it in the body of my post.

I use an app called SimpleResize - pretty straight forward interface

Look up an app named resizer
