Yeah - I know "Yellow is Faster" but there is always an oddball in the group (me). Eric Shea was there but his car was not in the picture or we would have had one more.
This was taken at Red Rocks Classic in Moab 2014.

My car is black but parts of it are still yellow. So, does that make it "partially" fast?

I think the correct term is "half fast".

That's how I feel about red cars. Yellow I'm cool with.

I think the correct term is "half fast".
Back in 1969 my first car was a RED `68 Opel Kadett B 2dr Notchback with a measely 1.1L I-4 & not particularly fast, but I kept getting pulled over.
So my Dad & I went to the neighbor who was a San Diego Police LT & asked why.
He said that cops target bright colors - Red first, then Orange, Yellow, then any of the other bright Greens, Blues, Purples, etc.
So the Cops then & now certainly
think that color makes for a fast car!
.... or at least a driver who likes those colors has a propensity to speed.
So add radar/laser detectors & eyes in the back of your head folks!
This cop hunting color issue was why I changed my `76 repaint of my `73 914-2L from the 75 914 Copper Metallic - which looked metallic Orange in the sun - to my "Pavement Cammo" color of the 930 Anthracite Gray metallic in the `80-83 rolling resto - & my being pulled over stopped, while my driving style in it remained the same!
Cheers!
Tom

Seems like the lady in th red dress from the movie the Matrix.
This thread made me look around more today, up here in New England.
Black, silver and white are the dominant car colors.
Occasional red cars.
Nothing else, which seems sad.

Let me see.......... I have owned a black one, an orange one, a red one a white one and a yellow which I currently drive. It might be that I owned most of my earlier cars in California growing up, not to mention my father was a motorcycle cop. Now I'm in Texas and a lot of open road................ Plus the car is yellow.

I was lucky to get that valance. I really want one to fit the flares better but this one is pretty cool and built like a tank.

914's
Yellow is not faster
It's just a bright color that everyone can see in traffic and you don't have to toot your horn to be seen.
I like this grouping of yellow 914's.
1970 Canary Yellow # L11E (front of group)
1973 Saturn Yellow L13K (middle group)
1974 Chrome Yellow # L13M (in the garage)
Tom
Funny!

Great picture of some fine cars. But I think L13K is actually Sunflower Yellow for 1973. L13M was Saturn Yellow in 1973 and then L13M was called Chrome Yellow in 1974.

Why would Porsche change the name of a paint color from one year to the next? It must have been some marketing ploy is all I can figure out.

I have to post a picture of my favorite yellow 914. She is the Queen of 914World (and previous COTM).
Buttercup is a 1973 1.7L that was restored with the help of many people here. Here is the thread on the build: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=101614&hl=buttercup&st=100
The back story is here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=98044&hl=shortridge
The paint on this car is Sunflower Yellow (L13K) so this picture is perfect!
