I've got the Blues
What's your favorite color for the Porscheru?
I've got it narrowed to these four with my favorite being Marathon Blue:
L96M http://www.p914.com/p914_paint_L96M_74.htm

I love this 911 color but I don't know the paint code. If anyone can tell me what it is I would greatly appreciate it. It is similar to Marathon Blue Metallic.
I see this color called glacier or ice in some combinations.
L97B http://www.p914.com/p914_paint_L97B_76.htm
L96B http://www.p914.com/p914_paint_L96B_73.htm
L96E Gemini Blue Metallic

And the winner is Honda B97M which is similar to metallic adriatic. We have just painted the interior- more pictures to follow.

Entry in this thread.
I'm color blind but I voted anyway... you can't go wrong.. and you should do what YOU like...
The 911 might be polar silver. I had a 993 that color and it was basically silver with a bluish yellow tint... again, color blind....
I vote for Olympic Blue.

Alaska blue = brilliant! It just doesn't get any better...actually, that Gemini BM is quite nice too!
My favorite is Adriatic blue.

I vote Lowenbrau blue
My choice would be Adriatic Blue too, as long as you're going with a stock 914 color.
If it's a custom, I'd go Mexico Blue.
My $.02
My '73 is " '86 Earl Scheib Smurf Blue."

Colors can change under different lighting conditions but the "real life" color of Marathon Blue Metallic actually has more blue in it than the picture you've got there.
Here's the same Marathon Blue car from a different angle:
This is my favorite of all Porsche blues....Cobalt blue
Not a 914 color, but always have liked Dalmatian blue on the early 911's.
In certain lights, it almost appears to have some purple in it.
Voodoo Blue.......
I remember checking out and taking to the owner of the 916 at Laguna Seca in 1998. He was considering of selling it then....another could have should have moments similar to the GT that Seinfeld now owns.
I love Marathon Blue...my favorite.
Like it so much I have '85 targa...it is a paint to sample (paint code L999) car that looks very close to Marathon!
Marathon Blue!
Stock I would say Olympic
But for Porsche overall I am partial to Minerva blue. Best I can tell it came out in 76 making it extremely unlikely to be a custom order for a 914.
Here is my 924 in it, and Magnus has a 930 in it as well.

Glacier Blue - a little darker than Mexico Blue. A 72-73 911 color.
I'm biased, but Bali Blue is my new favorite.
My 356 was originally this color, but the PO painted it black at some point.
I'm saving up pennies for Scotty to repaint it back to Bali Blue:
My SC was Arrow Blue, certainly a top choice in my book.

This photo seals the deal, as far as I'm concerned…..
............ had this tail-dragger ..... midnight blue which in 1989 was almost black

Alaska Blue Metallic! I love that color
Need more pictures!
My first Porsche (993 C4S in Turquoise Blue)
Regret selling it every day!
Adriatic or Alaska with white interior ...
Dark, dark, dark, blue. It's so dark blue, it actually looks black.

I'm biased towards Alaska Blue (but this pic was shot in the shade on a tired paint job).

Ali Blue
One more..
Tomorrow is the big day to select the paint. It's got to be something similar to that ice blue 911. Alaska Blue is very nice, but the dark paint tends to make the 914 disappear. I think a 914 needs a bright color, and all small cars for that matter. I love Marathon Blue and Anacona Blue. Keep posting photos...
It has to be Midnight Blue ! going to paint my project car this colour to .....
You might consider my wife's Odyssey - real nice "light" blue. Is your car for your wife? It would be perfect then...
PS: Also, below is another picture - you may not be able to see it but there IS ('cause its Alaska Blue) a 914 in it!
Seriously, enjoy whatever you choose and never look back!
T
I agree with Adriatic Blue with white interior too.
Local friend used to have one that was GREAT and it looked fantastic!
Baltic Blue
OK, the car needs some work, but you get the idea. It is on the front burner now, getting a 3.0 mated to a 915 gearbox.
Color looks good in spite of sitting in a warehouse for 20 years plus and there is precious little rust.
Just for fun, take a look at this;

Hard to find any color Porsches dont look good in.
If you're powered by Subaru, what about Subaru WRB (world rally blue)?
Clean Anacona Blue on ebay right now

And the Winner is ...
Honda B97M found on 2000 and 2001 Honda and Accura. It's a pearl paint- voltage blue pearl. I know this is not what a purist would do, but my car is no longer stock, with a Subaru engine.
I am amazed at how much the color changes with the lighting. That's one reason it is so hard to pick a color. The colors look different on the net depending on the lighting. The color chips in the books at the store are pretty close, but then you still need to spray them out to compare colors. We sprayed in one, two and three coats and then put the clear coat over that to really see the color differences. The bottom colors are candy versions that I will use on the rockers.
Here's some of the photos. The car is only painted on the inside. Also, the clear coat is not on yet; the clear coat really makes the colors pop. Notice the two tones, front and side, casting the light differently.
One more photo to show the difference in lighting and how much it changes to color. This photo does not really show the color very well. The previous photos, especially the first are the truest.
