914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Oil Galley Plugs

Posted by: Amphicar770 Mar 14 2016, 10:35 PM

Hi All,

Engine is currently out of car. It is not being rebuilt but I do have most everything all cleaned up and will start reassembly soon.

Does it make sense to JB-Weld the existing oil galley plugs? I do not want to drill / tap threaded plugs due to risk of shavings in engine. Plugs are not leaking, just wondered if this is a good precautionary measure.

Thx

Mike

Simple answer. Yes.

It works best if you like wasting your time. thumb3d.gif

JBWeld will not withstand 80psi of oil pressure if it starts fighting to get out. So you're essentially doing nothing.

Sorry.
