914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Air deflection flap spring question

Posted by: saigon71 Mar 27 2016, 09:16 AM

Wish I had paid better attention during disassembly. When loading the spring for the cooling flaps (controlled by the thermostat), does the tang of the spring go under the fan housing or under the tab that holds the bar. IE: Which install is correct? Thanks and Happy Easter!

It should be under quite a bit of tension in position number two.

The metal tab is what you use to press it down, so make sure the other leg is the in the right place.

Should be kinda hard to put in.

It has been installed as detailed in picture two. Discovered my thermostat was bad. headbang.gif New one ordered from Awesome Powdercoat. I'll be able to put that in after the engine is installed.
