Did Porsche ever produce a single outlet "Sport" exhaust version for the '73-'74 2.0L by Leistritz or Bischoff? If so, what was the part number and has anyone ever seen / heard one compared to the stock version?

Yes Cal, the one that I have, but it's buried in our garage, so I can't shoot you a pic.

It was a std. single outlet to the L side as with the others, but with less bafffling inside for freer flow & a bit throatier sound - not as loud as a Triad, but on par with some of the old school glass-pack aftermarket VW/Porsche mufflers back in the day, but with a better sound than those. They were quite popular around SoCal on 914s in the 70's.

AFAIK, only Leistritz made them in Sport flavor, & Bischoff had the plain variety 2L Banana (which is what Dansk repops now, but with a chromed pipe, old school was a chrome/ss exhaust pipe tip like used on the 911s/914-6s). IIRC there were no plain variety of the Leistritz, & so they're fewer & far between.

You can get the part no. from the Porsche 914 PET (free online from Porsche's Classics Section, under documents), but you may need to get back to an older version, since Porsche tends to drop parts nos. in them as they go NLA.

Bowlsby has an older version on his "Classic 914" website - in the Tech Docs section IIRC (not sure if it's a full version nor date range), & Sierra Madre sells an older 3-ring binder version (2005 - just checked & not in there either), plus AA has an older 914 PET along with a bunch of extra 914 related scanned docs bonus on their CD of the 914 Factory Service Manuals 8 vols.

Use those p/n resources if you're still trying to verify that Leistritz one that you posted the pix a few days back.

Good Luck! beerchug.gif
