I have these Boge front struts ( the portion that attaches to the ball joint is threaded )
the lock pin does not work with this kind of strut. What do you guys use to secure the lower portion of the strut to the ball joint ? Is there a special kind of bolt ?

There is two types of of struts. One uses thru bolt and nut. ball joint has semi circle or moon cutout on ball joint shaft. The second (later) style uses tapered wedge bolt and ball joint has V shaped cutout.

You need the proper ball joint for the struts that you have! Early or late.
