Hey I was wondering who is Salt Lake Or doe anyone know A good Mechanic in Salt Lake

Posted by: Ctrout Apr 1 2005, 08:03 PM

What do you need and do you have beer? I am about 3.5 hrs away in Mountain Home, Idaho. I'm commuting two hours each way both days this weekend to help a friend run a field trial for a spaniel club.

Posted by: Series9 Apr 1 2005, 08:10 PM

Dude, THE man is in SLC, but I'll wait for him to chime in...

Posted by: Rhodes71/914 Apr 1 2005, 08:12 PM

My inlaws live there but that doesn't help you out.

Posted by: 914helo Apr 1 2005, 08:21 PM

There's a small shop called 'Auto Pro' at 903 East 3900 South. It's on the corner. The owner's name is Nader (he's Iranian I think). My brother used to live near him and I took my 914 to him a couple of times. He wasn't the fastest, but he did good work and was very honest (which is getting rarer and rarer these days). There used to be a dealership in Salt Lake and one in Provo but they didn't want to work on my 914. Best of luck.

Posted by: mk114 Apr 1 2005, 10:20 PM

well I need help with a fuel injection system and I always have a cold twelve pack in the shop

Also just wondering who's around

Posted by: echocanyons Apr 1 2005, 10:45 PM

Ed Andrews

If he is not retired

He is the most experienced and honest 914 guy I know of in SLC

Call Dave Strong they have his number, he is also in the book

Posted by: mk114 Apr 1 2005, 10:47 PM

Hi Gang,

Let's do dinner and a suspension.

mk, welcome to the club. Yours wouldn't be the white car with the side stripes I see tooling around Sandy would it?

For FI work, I'd second the Ed Andrews vote.

Who's in on the din-din?

Gint
Eric
Troy?
Hawktel
Jim?
mk?
Shane?

Posted by: mk114 Apr 2 2005, 09:02 AM

Nah mine hasn't ran for several years and currently has no motor , no trans , no interior, no dash, no seats, no head lights, no tail lights, no windshield, no rear window, etc.... it's just a cream puff body I bought off some one in provo who likes mustangs ( I think it was given to him by a client for money) he had no idea what it was so he sold it

Posted by: Eric_Shea Apr 2 2005, 09:06 AM

Oh... so you just like the rest of us laugh.gif

Welcome again. Where do you live? SLC proper? When were you thinking of getting it painted?

Posted by: mk114 Apr 2 2005, 09:16 AM

Not for awhile ( want to sandblast it) money is the problem right now. My wife has M.S. and we are tight due to medical bills But this year is when I want to do it

also count me in for dinner

Posted by: Eric_Shea Apr 2 2005, 09:27 AM

Sorry to hear that about your wife. All the best to her sad.gif

I know the best sandblaster in the area. AND I know someone at Chuck E. Cheese. We can get all the tokens we want! w00t.gif

Gint LOVE's Chuck E. Cheese... How'd you know? confused24.gif

Posted by: mk114 Apr 2 2005, 09:32 AM

Yahh we can make that mouse dance baby!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Eric_Shea Apr 2 2005, 07:42 PM

Spoke with Troy... he's in for din-din.

Looks like it's a go. We'd better start looking around for something. There's quite a few places around the 106th exit. Iggy's, McGrath's Seafood, Mimi's, Olive Garden, Carvers (mk's buying for allowing us to steal his thread and for all this way useful advice...) laugh.gif

Anybody else want to take a nice spring drive up/over/down to Salt Lake City?

Posted by: Rhodes71/914 Apr 2 2005, 08:05 PM

Darn looks like I will be about a week and a half late. I think we will be visiting the in-laws around the 19th.

The first and last time I was in a ChuckECheese was applying for a job when I was 17. I don't think we even have any of those around here anymore.

It's tough to call this far ahead, but the weather looks good so far.

Posted by: Skid Apr 2 2005, 11:22 PM

Sounds like fun, If you dont mind having a youngin hanging around. Will I be the only one with a running teener there? Because if you guys want, I could bring a jack a help you get your cars off jack stands. lol2.gif

You're more than welcome to join us. Come see a naked teener! Your kinda new, so you may not know what I'm up to. You see, my tub is on one big "jackstand", and the goal for next Saturday is to get it back on wheels and loaded on a trailer.

Hey guys,
I thought i woudl introduce myself, and maybe self invite my self to dinner and to help/spectate on Gints car. I'm Mark, and i live about 3 hours north of SLC in "I-da-HO". seems like some of the guys i need to meet to get my car stripped and painted are in your area. Let me know, and I will plan on being in SLC this weekend.

Looking forward to my first meeting on actual "914world.com"ers

Posted by: Hawktel Apr 4 2005, 12:11 PM

Any decisions on time, and a place to eat? I'm not familar with the places down there. I know there is a hooters though! Lol.

I don't care, where we eat, I how about we get together at around 6:00?

Posted by: Eric_Shea Apr 4 2005, 12:21 PM

Mark... that sounds like an AA 10 step rap. (my name is Eric and I live in U-tah and I'm an addict) laugh.gif

Come on down!! smilie_pokal.gif

When did you move? How are the control arms?

You need to meet Troy if you're looking to get painted.

I don't know about the time line. It shouldn't take but a 1/2 hour to get the suspension on the Gintmobile. There's a ton of places here. Plan on something around the 106th exit. That's where Troy is. That's where I is and that's where Gint be too. I put up a list of decent places right off the exit... check a few posts back. There's always Chuck E. Cheese's... lol2.gif

Posted by: slapshot914 Apr 4 2005, 01:27 PM

Dang, just missed it. I was in Salt Lake a week ago visiting family. Like they say "timing is everything". Have fun. Maybe the next time I'm there, I'll see if I can't hook up with you all.

Posted by: Eric_Shea Apr 4 2005, 01:35 PM

Should we start a new thread? Salt Lake Dinner? Maybe get it nailed? I don't know if others would find it here.

Posted by: Hawktel Apr 4 2005, 01:40 PM

Oops, you did. Any of them is good for me! I'm excited for this!

Sure lets do a new thread.

Posted by: Eric_Shea Apr 4 2005, 03:57 PM

Gint,

It looks like rain and snow in the long range... are you still up for this? Should we start a thread and nail it instead of the constant hijacking of this one?

Inquiring minds want to know... biggrin.gif

Somebody start one. Rather than nail it, let's just keep chatting it up. I think it will actually get more attention that way anyway.

I gotta go bleed some brakes...

BTW Eric - I found that first friggin trunk lid bolt. It was in the box with the replacement rack boot that I also needed yesterday and was in the last place I looked.

Posted by: gopack Apr 4 2005, 04:43 PM

Hey Eric,
Control arms worked out good (I guess) just installed them a month ago getting the car in a rolling configuration to move it.
I pretty much moved here about 5 months ago, wife followed about 2 months ago, and the car and all the stuff will follow when we sell the house! I wish I had my stuff here because I am going to need to get some rear calipers from you , but for now I don't have the cores! (no real rush, just getting my ducks in a row)
I am looking forward to meeting troy because I need (want really bad!?) to get the car stripped, rust taken care of, and painted REAL PURDY before the end of the year!

Add me to the list for dinner and suspension party! And let me know the details so I can hang and help out on the install (I am off on friday, so if there is a need for muscle or grunt work getting the shell to the work place or whatever, I'm your man. Just say the word.
