Do the timing belt....unless you know when it was last done...
1st order of duty: Timing Belt.

LMAO Z
belt was just done by dealer have all receipts since new, all highway miles runs, drives perfectly could use shocks and the front rotors turned(slightly warped) and maybe a motor mount. fortuneatly i have several parts cars still and have all of it. btw doing a t belt in this is very easy, been doing these for years.
Easy? Nothing is easy.
Ok... Munching a motor at a stoplight is easy.

Quit your badmouthin'. You sound like a bunch of crotchety old women. Nick, cograts. That's an aweful lot of car for $1,200! I doubt anyone else on the list besides Craig Laughlin could come up with such a nice car for $1,200. Enjoy the spoils.

It's pretty. Does it leak?
M
good catch!
it would be pretty hard to get more bang for your bucks than that
you know how to double the value of a 914? put the rust back in the trunk.
Yeah, leave the guy alone, I have always liked the 944, I think it was one of the best looking cars of the 80's. Maybe one of these days I will actually get one. Guards Red is the best color on those.
If you get one, Scott, be sure to check the timing belt.
M
Nice find! I would have taken one of those for that price in that shape when I was looking for a driver. I got 912 instead
Did you check the timing belt?
Dann...NICE find!
I think I used up all my 'good deals' for the year on a $300 beater, and a $25 dash...
Wanna trade?

$1200??!
Not fair.
Sweet find.
Beautiful! Congratulations

You think 914 owners are paranoidal nutcases....go check the 924/944/951 postings over on the Skyrat and Rennlist boards...woof...
BTW...change the timing belt....
I just bought my wife an 84' for twice that. Although it only has 100k miles on it and she is the 3rd owner. you got a great find, I have had a few 944's over the years and they have ALL proven to not only be reliable cars, but great performers as well. One of them even had 240k miles on the clock. Those engine will go a long time if you just keep up on the belts. If yours is an 87', then the timing/balance shaft belts are that much easier to do as I am sure you already know.
$1200 was a great deal for that car. Keep up the maint on it and enjoy it.
Black is my favorite color on 944's.
i have had a few of these before, never had a belt problem, but considering i have worked on these for years it isn't a problem..that cambelt thing is really overblown. I used to buy these with bad belts and fix them , cost me like 200 depending how many valves bent(the valves btw are real cheap) and the head set is like $59. it always cost me more to have the head done(valve seats cut ) than the rest put together. no leaks anywhere. the woman was meticulous to say it mildly. she bought a new 05 carrera to replace this...
turbo charge it
sweet find. too bad no five speed tho. what color is the interior? 944's look badass with flares!
