WHOA!
That's flipping amazing! I've NEVER heard of that before. Cool idea!
SWEEETTT!!! the clear lenses go fo a mint, and I was afraid I was going to have to bend over to get some... now I'll try this first!!
thanks!!
The next question is.... What would someone use to recolor them...???
Inquiring minds want to Know....

I had always used RIT dye in hot water.
Soak them for a few hours, and you'll be in good shape.
I'll take the lenses off the Junkster and see what happens. (cracked anyway)
I am goint to run the through the dish washer and see how they turn out. they seem to have a hazey film on them I give some more status when I'm done
you might be able to get rid of the haze with some mothers polish
Brasso is a good plastic polish. We used that to polish plastic watch crystals in the jewelry business. I've used it on the shields for my motorcycle helmets as well.
Try some tooth paste...not too abrasive, then hit it with Mothers cleaner!
Hobby stores sell paint you can use to recolor them. I think that is what I heard.
So would this work on the tail light lenses as well?
Yes working on removing some tail lights now
How long do you soak them for?
'Pine Sol' - very handy kitchen/laundry product that can be picked up at the supermarket (often on special too !)
Not as aggressive as Scalemaster or Chameleon so several soakings may be needed to achieve the desired result.
After any soakings in these products, wash the model in warm soapy water (to neutralize the reaction) and scrub with a toothbrush to loosen stubborn paint.
When using any of these products, thin vinyl/latex protective gloves are a good idea as they can cause dermatitis to some sensitive skins.
Hope this is of help to you.
this what I read tokk about 4 to 6 hours for the lenses to come clean and ther was scrubbing involved I used a tooth brush
USE RUBBER GLOVES
Do you soak then in straight pinesol or diluted?
Simple Green works also, I have remove paint from 40 year model cars and things.
Then polish them with Novus it comes in three grades 3 removes scratches then polish with #2 then #1 . Hobby stores and I think Tap Plastics has it .
straight pine sol
Well I tried this with my round turn signals just for the heck of it. It did not remove the color but it did however make them look brand new and shiny again so the experiment wasn't a loss.
I think why this worked for you was that the euro lenses you got where clear to start with and then are colored amber at the top where as the US ones are made with amber colored plastic.
Did you have any luck on the tail lights?
Acetone removes the amber off of the the Italian lens very easily. Takes about 30 minutes to do a pair of lenses and leaves no cloudiness.
