No vins and no engine mouting bar? Is there a way to verify its a real six?

Posted by: scott thacher Apr 3 2005, 11:15 PM

yes there is a few ways to tell. things like no hole for the air line from the spare in the front of the tank area, also the ing key location, etc

It says no suspension and no ID tags but yet it is on 4 wheels and I can clearly see a VIN tag in the windshield and can almost make out the number plate under the front hood. You cant remove the VIN number on top of the pass front fender so that one would have to be there. You could still determine if it was a 6. Plus you would see where the oil tank was and the engine mount.

They have two 914/6 bodies. One says no suspension, so I take it that they will remove the present suspension before delivery. Both are really crap and barely worth openning bid. One would have to be desperate to start with either. It is not unknown to cut the VIN out of the fender. I don't doubt it is superstripped. These are the lowest grade tubs available. Probably worth something to somebody though.

They are also offering an LE. First offered under VIN 4742909956 and now under 4742915030. Restarted the first ad when it was pointed out the 9956 was too early to be an LE, the stopped the first ad and started a new one. Obviously a pieced together chassis. One wonders what the title says when the first number they chose was 9956. That must have been the most obvious VIN on the car or title. Definitely not a 'numbers matching' car. I only wish they were upfront about that.

It may be worth a few bucks as it still has the engine in it.

" Q: Does it come with an engine? Does the engine turn over? Answered on Apr-01-05
A: Engine YES, Turn Over NO I can give you a more detailed engine status asap if you are interested. Let me know. Greg"

Maybe Greg from AA can give us the lowdown.
