Posted by: jcd914 Jun 15 2016, 10:19 PM

I received a message today from a close family friend that Jeff passed away over the weekend.

No details but many of you knew he had been diagnosed with Kidney cancer just over a year ago.

Jeff was a great man and an asset to our community and he will be missed.

Rest in Peace my friend.

Jim

Sad to hear I've been thinking recently about how Jeff was doing. Last I saw him was Marks going away barbi but my memory will be Lake Tahoe WCR when he was healthy. Condolences to his wife and family. If there is anything I can do to help out please let me know.

Posted by: jack20 Jun 15 2016, 11:38 PM

I'm very sad to read this news. He posted a couple months ago and I was hopeful that he was in remission. I met Jeff at a 914 breakfast shortly after I bought my car. Soon after I went out to his place for some parts. I was so impressed with his knowledge, generosity and willingness to help a fellow enthusiast. It was only weeks later that he was diagnosed.

Life is precious. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Jeff was my partner in "grime" at the Durango RRC. He helped with my kinked fuel line and we stayed back and enjoyed Jim's hospitality as you can see in Mike's pics. We then traveled back to SLC and took the long and scenic way home. Had a great ride...

I don't think Jeff ever missed a Sacramento Porsche Family Reunion event. In this shot from five years ago he had driven his father's Boxster. You can see him with his back to the camera... At one event, after we had all done the donut thing, we drove out to his house in Galt and had the most amazing BBQ... He will be missed. sad.gif

Very nice idea Mark. You just never know with e-bay though. I might suggest that someone here show up and pay full price, no negotiating. Just pay and drive away. You would be highly respected here and still get a great deal. I would hate for someone to take advantage of his family's lack of knowledge and get it even cheaper. It's the sorting part that you can't put a price on. Hours of checking gauges, pressures, temperatures, looking for leaks, etc, etc. All that is done.

PS I am not in the hunt for this car. Just looking out for Jeff's family like many of us are.

Back on track...I already miss my monthly "how ya doing" PM with Jeff. He always said he was doing pretty well. Great attitude right to the end.

Side note: the first one I sent I accidentally titled "Hows ya dong?". He didn't reply for a few days which was awkward lol-2.gif . Luckily he thought it was funny.

Hi this is Lennie's wife Sandy. For those that may not be part of Facebook and are planning to attend Jeff's celebration of life, would you please email me at sandywillis2007@gmail.com so that I can get an approximate headcount?

Jeff's brother Dave has graciously offered to take care of the barbecuing, coleslaw, and potato salad! I would like to be able to get him an approximate number of attendees by mid next week if possible.

Even if you are unsure at this point if you can make it, I would still like to include you in the headcount!

Thank you all so much!!

Here is the link once again for those that are on Facebook to the group with all the details and sign up for side dishes, easy ups, etc.

Hi everyone this is Sandy!! Working on all the final details for Jeff's celebration! I am going to be renting tables, chairs, linens, and a porta potty. There are some food items, glass and silverware, and beverages I still need to buy/make. So I am asking for any that would like to donate cash to help fund these items! Any money left after I pay for everything will be donated to Deborah for her trip! If you can donate please "gift" it via PayPal to:

www.doodledypes@gmail.com

Thank you! ❤️

Hi Sandy,

I would like to suggest starting a new thread about the gathering. Some people that posted here already may not check back in. I am very far away but if I were a little closer I would love to attend.

Hi fellow 914 enthusiast & Jeff friends smile.gif

Let me introduce myself, Deborah Stroud Jeff Strouds wife smile.gif

I have joined the group with Mark, Lennie & Sandy advice for several reasons they wanted me to see how Jeff was regarded by his fellow 914 friends & YES I have decided to keep the Mistress, so I will need some advice and plan to learn more about her. She was Jeff pride and joy, I just cant let her go sad.gif

It has taken me several days to get through this thread and respond without breaking down. I will make this as brief as I can. Just don't wanna go without saying how wonderful this is to know you knew my husband as he truly was & let you know how much he regarded you all in same, he always told me how wonderful this group of people were genuine helpful people.

With a heartfelt wonderful feeling to see here that others saw in my husband what I saw 32 years ago when we first met. He was my knight in shining armor, my boss, my best friend, my adviser, my mentor, my love, a wonderful son husband father & grandfather, a hard working honest loving kind generous man I will miss forever and a day till we meet again.

Jeff did not want services, we both are not fond of funerals or memorials rarely attended them brought too much sadness for us only went if we felt the need for that special person. Want you to know he talked many times of having an event to celebrate his achievements of his 914 & shop, sadly it never happened....but you all have made this happen for him! I know he will be here with us and smiling from above on us all that day.

I thank you for all your support kindness to us both then and now. The event will be bittersweet for me but I will do my best to embrace the sweet thoughtful kindness generosity you all have shown for us, a wonderful group you are & grateful that Jeff was able to fulfill his 914 dream with you in it.

Yours,
Deborah

Hi Deborah,

Jeff was one of the good guys and will be sorely missed. My wife and I are coming out next weekend to celebrate Jeff's life with you and friends.

I'm glad you are keeping his 914. As you may have noticed, the generosity of 914 World is amazing. If you ever need anything just let us know and we will help.

Mike

I always enjoyed the time I spent with Jeff. He spent a lot of money on my stuff and was always up for a drive down to look for something he may or may not need.

RIP Jeff, you are in our thoughts! beerchug.gif

Im just seeing this. Been busy and away a lot. This plus loss of Ron today.....fuck.
