All,

My fuel pump died while my car was in the shop. I know it sounds fishy, but I trust the guy so far.

I need to know what a reasonable (not best, but fair) price is for a new fuel pump for a 73 1.7.

Please let me know.

I have an OEM one from my '75 1.8L. Make me an reasonable offer including postage and I can get it out on Monday. It worked fine. It is not the original one (from the factory), the PO replaced it several years ago with a new Bosch unit.

First, I am not looking for a pump. Its in and on the car.

Second, I am not sure of the brand, but I assume it is Bosch (stock type, if still available).

A new OEM Bosch fuel pump for your car should run you between $300 and $325.

Couple months ago someone posted that this MSD fuel pump will work just fine. Only $77 brand new.

On your '73, you would have to eliminate the 'T' in the return line to make this work since the pump itself has no return (relief) port. If you use the '75 1.8L pump that Karl is offering, you would have to plumb it the same was as well as the fuel pumps from '75 and '76 had their return port eliminated.

I have a lot of stuff for a 1.7 including a fuel pump. Let me know if you are interested. I also have complete FI, heat exchangers, muffler, alternator that will go on the classifieds soon.

What SHOULD he be able to get a factory style replacement for?

A rebuilt pump is around $150 and a new Bosch pump might be $275 depending upon where you buy it. Fortunately, they don't fail very often.

Yeah, call me a heathen, but I pulled a pump off a junk-yard BMW 325i for $25. Works awsome. My recommendation? Get the junk-yard pump, and use the remaining $300 to buy a rennshifter or something else fun.

I seen new oem pumps for like $180.00

Try switching one of the relays in the engine bay and check the fuses in there too before u buy a new pump. My AAR was shorting out and I thought the pump was bad. They are both on the same fuse.
So, if your fuse keeps blown, by-pass the AAR and disconect it to see if thats what the prob is.
