I have been looking for a decent project car for a while. Anyway, I heard about this place here in town that "works on them thar porsches". So I called the guy and sure enough, he has a 72 that he bought for a customer, but the customer backed out. Turns out they build and maintain Porsche race cars for customers in SCCA, etc. He tells me to come on down and look at it. Soooo, I left work early and went to the shop where the car is. Lots of porsche pics on the walls, hmmm. Takes me out to the shop and OMFG!!! About a dozen 911/356/914 race cars
The car is nice, and I think I'm going to nab it. Then the guy takes me on a tour of his shop. He must have noticed my interest since my jaw was dragging..
Upstairs this guy had like, as best as I can describe, OOODLES of parts. Couple of 914/6 engines, webers galore, cases, cranks, rods, STACKS of Fuchs! I seriously had wood.
This guy had a "pile" of 911 front ends. SC, etc. I think I found my source of parts. The guy was cool as hell. Wish I wouldn't have left mycamera phone in the car. He might have thought I was wierd or something
Oh yeah! and the race cars... Saw a BEAUTIFUL blue 914/6. Flared, caged, and perfect in every sense of the word. I "think" I saw an RSR, but not sure. I didn't want to get too nosey, but it certainly "looked" like one. God damn I am still shaking, it was cool as hell. :D:D
And to think I have lived here for a long time and never even knew this place was here!!!
Yeah Baby!!
It's looking up for us Midwesters, I had a similar encounter (parts source(s)) just yesterday!!
Funny I thought this was Mecca:
So I made the trek for nothing?
Aaron says you guy's suck the big "retardo" stinkie thing!
I think you scored big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So....who is the guy?
Ya. Who is this guy? I'm in the midwest... share your source, bud!
-Rusty

Ok, guys, but the teener is MINE!! Hands off!!
Cox Motorsports. The guys name is James Cox. he was cool as hell. I got his business card, but damned if I know where it is now. He is in Grandview Missouri.
WE race with them all the time in HSR. They have a Blue 911 with a 3.0 I beleive that is very fast.

My source for a trailer dried up, so I checked on renting one from U-suck, they are retards. A friend of a friend of a friend owns a tow company, so he made me a deal to flatbed it home for a VERY reasonable rate. Score again!
Ok, i better go for now. Need to run out and dust off the jackstands...

Do you need James cell #??? Yeah, James and his boys know their stuff. He is especially good on 911s and 914 /6s. He should have several cars at he HSR event at Road Atlanta next weekend. The blue one someone referred to is Eric Bretzel's. Good car and good driver.
By the way....James use to do Trans Am cars....he worked for a fellow named Jack Roush
Roush... Roush... name rings a bell

I did see the blue car. Well, the ass end of it anyway. Just about everything was on the trailer. Said they were leaving monday for Hotlanta.
No shit? He used to work for Rousch??
Still waiting on my tub to get here. I have a truckload of parts, literally. I'll post pics later.

That white car with the blue looks familiar. There was also the solid blue one mentioned earlier, and an orange one. Just about everything was loaded up in the trailers.
Oh, and you guys are impatient
Had to take my kids to karate, then resize all these damn pics. Uploading them on my server now, give me just a minute.
OK, here goes...
In the garage (aka its new home for the next * years. And in this case, Yellow is definitely NOT faster.
Car has some good hoods and doors, that’s a plus.
The longs apprear to be in VERY good shape!
Now to the bad...
Hopefully CptTripps or some others will be doing some sawzall action soon, and maybe I can snag some parts.
the sealrails are getting light in some spots. It shouldnt be too hard to make these should it?
Typical trunk floor...
Now this piece on the passenger side engine bay, whats this piece called? It's getting a bit knarly. Think I'll replace it while I'm in there.
Will need the typical clutch tube repair
Now the bad. Not until I got home and got a wire brush and a drop light did I see this... In the second picture, that doesn't look like a factory weld. So a PO of years past may have done some work.
Under the tank is good. Very dirty, but no rust. Front trunk is also very good shape.
Are these Konis?
Got a couple of engines with it. A 1.7, and a 2 liter.
Oh yeah, and a BOATLOAD of parts...
wanna sell any of those extra parts?

thats okay I haveent got far enough along on mine to know what parts I need. I still gotta get my new calipers put on and do a bunch of taping on the wiring . Mice chewed the insulation of the wiring in the front trunk where it comes putof the fire wall havent had time to look for others areas yet could be exiting and hard on fuses
Nice score!!
Is it me, or is there something strange about the 1.7L head, specifically the intake mounting flange.
