914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Plastic Dash Cover

I have a cracked dashboard, but cannot fathom spending several hundred dollars on a new one or used one without cracks. I have seen the black plastic covers similar to the one shown below:

Anybody used one of these before? Do they look good, or are they crap? I have a nice 914 that I've recently added a center console to and am wondering if this will help renew the look of my dash without looking cheap. Thanks! Steve

Nice to see yet another Va guy clap.gif Yes they help and look pretty good. See if you can verify that it is a coverlay brand. There are some cheap brands that don't fit well. Most guys don't glue them down as the instructions say, because they are a pain to remove later if you wish. I parted out a 924 a few years ago and started to remove the dash because it was perfect (name your price for a perfect 924/944 dash) half way into it I took a closer look headbang.gif headbang.gif COVERLAY! A couple of us Va. guys have disscussed a gettogether sometime this year but got nowhere. Youin? I would prefer fall so MAYBE I can have a car to run in ! driving.gif

I bought a coverlay from Tweeks(mid-america)last year. It is a decent piece. Fits nice,no sharp edges, pretty snug. The grain is more realistic than I thought it would be. My original dash cracked above the speedo binnacle and the radio area. I have a brand new dash from a parted out car in storage, just not ready to tear apart the interior yet. welder.gif So anyway coverly dash is good if your not worried about "concours" look.
Cheers,Dion
