There is a round mushroom shaped boot that closes the tube where the speedo cable exits the firewall. It apparently comes with the cable when you buy a new cable.

Anyone know where to get just the boot?? Or a suitable work alike??

Usually it only comes with new cable. I do not think they were sold individually.
