Had false air coming in the intake boot for the 3.2 so I put in a piece of pipe as a temporary measure. For permanent I turned a plug

WD 40 isn't the best finish. Too garish though?
Hose clamp snugged right down on it.

I agree ... looks good.

I think that over time it will dry out and crack and no longer be air tight. Something to keep an eye on. Maybe a heavy varnish would delay the process?
