Hello all,

Well, awhile ago I posted about my car continuing to run after the key was shut off. I changed the ignition switch and all was well for awhile, until today.

Went out for lunch today in the '14, went to turn it off at the burger place and guess what? It continued to run. Went thru the drive thru...

Got back to the office, turned off the key and car continues to run. My coworker that went for a ride with me gets out and kind of closes the door hard and the car turns off! blink.gif WTF!?

I get out and close the door and I see the gas gauge jump. I kind of thump the windshield frame and it jumps again...!!??

The car power is turning off and on without the key somewhere! mad.gif
I've got a major bad connection somewhere. Anyone have any ideas on where to look for this bugger before it powers up by itself and burns my car down?? headbang.gif I'll be disconnecting the battery while it's parked in the garage for awhile...

The starter is funtioning as normal. It's a 2.0 D-Jet with pertronics ignition. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Thanks for any direction.

A dangling wire, with or without a connector on it, is touching the body someplace and grounding something. It COULD be a chafed wire someplace feeding through a body hole that's supposed to have a grommet on it, but no longer does.

If the car keeps running, then it's most likely in the ignition circuit somewhere, so I'd look around the ignition switch, then the fusebox. Actually, in the fusebox area itself, it's certainly possible a loose wire is touching a +12 connection, not a ground connection. This is unlikely anywhere else. The most likely color for the suspect wires are red, red/white, black, or brown (ground).
