914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Off To Paint!

Posted by: yeahmag Oct 17 2016, 08:06 PM

Today I dropped the car off at the painter. He will be finishing/touching up the body work I've done. The next step will be to hand it back to me and I'll finish off the door jams and color/clear them myself, followed by a 400 grit wet sand of the body. Finally, back to the painter for color then clear.

This is a big day after almost 2 years on and off of prepping the car for this!

Where are you getting your car painted? I'm looking to get mine done and I live nearby.

Ask for Dennis.

Phase 2 begins today! He's done with the minor finish work on the body. I'm taking it back to wet sand and spray the door jams myself. Phase 3 will be back to him for the final color/clear!!!

Looks so straight!!! Now I get to finish sand and paint the door jams. Then back to the painter for the color and clear.

Great progress!
Dennis does nice work. He did my friend's yellow bahama 68 911 (bad picture).
I'm hoping I can have him paint my project car at some point...
Good luck for the rest of your project.

My favorite color for a SWB 912 drooley.gif

I was amazed at how many Bahama Yellow So Cal 912s (on the 912 BBS) there are. Several of them are real local to me.

Painted and cleared the jams and the corresponding part of the doors today. Now I need to block the body one last time and then back to the painter.

Nice work Aaron. Don.t know how you find the time.

Million dollar question now is.....will ya be taking it to Willow?

Posted by: yeahmag Dec 11 2016, 11:29 PM

Nope! Autocross only for this one. I need to find something cheaper to hit hay bails with. Plus, the shifter and the TAG are way faster...

What happened to your ext. mirror holes?

Posted by: yeahmag Jan 25 2017, 10:51 AM

They are still there. Something about the video makes it look like they are gone.

Aaron, did they paint inside the headlight buckets?

I removed all the guts on our '71 ... but the headlight frames need refreshed anyway ...

Posted by: yeahmag Jan 26 2017, 11:19 AM

Nope. They probably would have if I took it all apart and prepped it.

Posted by: Dion Jan 26 2017, 12:05 PM

Cool colour. Never saw that colour in person. Looks metallic?
Good luck with the rest of assembly.

Posted by: yeahmag Jan 26 2017, 12:07 PM
