914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Oil Temperature Reading

Posted by: mmascari Nov 5 2016, 09:30 PM

Does anyone know the actual oil temperature range in degrees if reading the oil temp/pressure qauge from a 911sc? I am installing the gauge in my 3.0 six conversion and interested to know the actual temperatures. For example, what is the temperature at the first line and what is the temperature at the red line?

I actually just did a search on the Internet and found a thread on Pelican. I assume the values would correspond to the image below. Assuming these are accurate.

Your research is correct. Top scales should answer your question.

If you look at the left edge of non temp faces you will see the temperatures which are used to calibrate the gauges.

Maybe you already know this but the sender needs to match the gauge, there
is not just one type.

When in doubt check it with an IR thermometer. You can take a reading off the tank.
