914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Supercharging?

Posted by: Eden's Ashes Apr 23 2005, 07:55 PM

Hi,
Is there anyone out there who makes a supercharger for the 914?

No, there are no supercharger kits for the 914. A very resourceful person could 'roll their own', but there are not ready-to-go solutions available.

That's a shame. Thank you...

It's been done before. A shop in FL did one back in the early to mid 80's. There was an article about it in VW & Porsche magazine. I'll see if I can dig out the article.

Didn't Jake show some pics awhile back of a motorcycle with a supercharged TIV engine in it? I think it was from one of the VW events he attends.

Found the article. Pics to follow. The car was built by Jay Richardson of RPM German Autowerks in Port Orange (Daytona) FL. It's a positive dispalcement B&M 66CID roots style blower running 6 lbs of of boost, with what looks like a custom shaft extension and mount. Up top is a Weber 36DFAV 2 bbl progressive carb. The assembly is mounted on a modified 2 bbl carb manifold. 75' 2.0 motor has 8:1 mahle p&c's, and stock cam. To handle higher rev's the case, connecting rods and crank were blueprinted and case was shuffle pinned. Looks like a relatively simple set up, especially compared to a turbo install. Article claims 170 hp with instant response and states..." under full throttle, the SC914 spins the wheels enthusiastically while the blower sounds like blender one click sbove "puree"." SCHWEEEET! rocking nana.gif

Can anybody suggest a website I could post the entire article on?
