914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Fuel Pump Question

Posted by: 74914LE Apr 27 2005, 10:30 AM

I am working on getting a FI Fuel Injection System working again after being off
of the car for many years. The PO said that everything worked when the system
was pulled from the engine and put in a box in favor of carbs. Question is, what
are the tried and true methods for making sure that the fuel pump has the best
chance to start up again? It has been sitting up for 10+ years. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Don't run it dry!

Put some fuel in the tank...disconnect the pressure hose and place into a container. Wire the pump directly to the battery for the test. If it runs and pumps...hook the lines back up.

Pressurize the system by connecting to the battery again and see if you have any leaks.

rock & roll if it doesn't.
