We have a Greg smith equipment close by. I think the 4 post is 2 grand if you pick up. No tax in DE.

That seems about 40% to much for that lift. I don't want to talk about taxes....I hate the IRS and yet I still pay my freakin' taxes.

That seems about 40% to much for that lift. I don't want to talk about taxes....I hate the IRS and yet I still pay my freakin' taxes.
Go exempt and save it up all year, then write a check on April 15th. Well, this year it's the 18th... that way they don't get to use your money for free. We don't so why should they??

That's what I do, you pay small quarterly penalties, but it's worth it not to give the govt an interest free loan all year.
Also, that lift price is crazy, I just bought one for about $2200, delivered.

a 4 Post is one of the best things I've done! That CostCo Chinese Lift looks like it is 2x too expensive

I agree with the others, that one is too much money.
I think I paid around $3000 for a BendPak HD9 that is certified. I believe I used ASEDeals for the purchase
I have yet to get the bridge jacks, but hope to someday to make it a parking and service lift.

One piece of advice, pay extra for the drip trays, there is nothing worse than coming out to a leaky Porsche pee-ing oil on the car below.

Better yet, make your own. I got the BendPak ones and they suck (thin cheap plastic that cracks if they look at it wrong)...replaced them with galvanized metal ones from my FLAPS. Cheaper and WAY more solid.

I got a Direct Lift last summer in AZ- local dealer in PHX delivered it- it comes with casters so we just pushed it in the garage.
Measured and remeasured to make sure it would fit where we wanted it. Comes with 4 plastic drip trays- haven't cracked yet. Also got the bridge jack which is great- you can take off wheels to kind of replicate a 2 post.
Been happy with it. By the time we got the bridge jack and figured in delivery it was over 3K but worth it!!

How often do you really take a car that is stored above another car? Seems like a pain that would great reduce time driving the fun car...

There is another alternative to the scissor, two-post, & four-post lifts. You can go with a single-post lift. It's portable and can be moved around the garage with built-in dolly. I haven't tried the 914 yet, but I suspect I'll need some 2x ramps to drive it up onto to clear the 4.5" base. Comes in 110v or 220v.

I don't know what interest rate your bank pays.. but it is next to nothing on my accounts. Not worth the hassle..
Also, in my state if you don't pay enough during the year there are penalties along with the interest and they compound.. If I have to pay the state.. Why not pay both and not be on their radar.. Just my 2 cents worth

I guess if you only have one option of where to put your money all year, in your case an interest bearing bank account then it doesn't make sense. But I prefer to be able to have my money all year to do all kinds of things, and then pay the man at the end of the year.

I have the Greg Smith 4 post with two of the rolling bridge jacks. I have been very happy with it overall. The bridge jacks are great in that the let you get the suspension in the air.
The four posts are not ideal for dropping 914 engine, there is generally too little room in the middle (although it can be done). Some models let you turn the runners around but then you can't mount the bridge jacks.
I do believe a two post such as the (DanMAr MaxJack for home garages) might offer more flexibility for vehicle servicing. The downside is ensuring your concrete slab is sufficient for bolting down the two post.

I don't think standard 4" slabs are adequate from some of the disaster stories I have read about 2 post lifts.

If I was to anchor one down I'd use a structural epoxy and make sure the pull out resistance more than equals the requirement. The surrounding concrete needs to be sound as well.
For a 914, I wouldn't think it would be a problem. This is gonna be my next purchase I.m getting to the point where I just don't like rolling around the ground any more.

The MAX JAX comes with some heavy duty anchors. Just drill a few at a slight angle then it's impossible for them to slip out. LMK what size anchors your using and I'll loan you a big assed roto-hammer drill that will drill each hole in 15 seconds.

My garage has an average/low ceiling so I put in a Bendpak P-6.
