914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 911 Rear Hub Spline Count

Posted by: turnaround89 Feb 1 2017, 11:48 PM

I've tried looking through pictures on this one and counting the splines and searching for the number with no luck. Does anyone know if the 911 rear hubs have a 27 spline count?

The reason I ask is out of curiosity if its possible to mate a 944 stub axle to the 911 hub.

It looks like the 944 spline count is also 27(again trying to count the splines from pictures on the internet)

I've seen a lot of 944CV joints mated to the 911 stub axle and 911 hub. Anyone know if you can use the 944 stub axles, 944 CVs, and mate that to the 911 hub?

28 splines is the correct count. Please go to the Classic section and read everything you need to know about axle and hub conversions.

SirAndy has a great thread on how to use 944 CV's do do a 5 lug conversion.

I've found the classics thread which shows the 911 stub axle, 944 cv, 914 axle, 911 hub.

Im curious if 944 stub axles can be used interchangeably with the 911 hub. If it can be used, its one more part everyone can use in 5 lug conversions. 944 stub axles seem easy enough to find.

Even if the possibility of using the 944 hub as well, would be interesting.

This looks to be like a 944 stub axle, 944 cv and a 911 hub
