914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Removing the front control arms

I've read all the posts on removing the bushings from the front control arms.

Does anyone have any helpful hints for removing the front control arms from the car? The Haynes manual seems pretty straight forward.

Also, is there anyone in San Deigo who has the turbo tie rod wrench I can burrow? :-)

First (if you haven't already) the strut from the a-arm (at the ball joint)

At the back, remove the t-bar adjuster bolt
Then, right next to it is a bolt that holds the a-arm to the x-member

At the front, remove the protector cap (allen bolt)
Then remove the two bolts left and right of the a-arm, which hold it to the chassis

support the a-arm with a jack or sumptin'
pull it out towards the front of the car

you may find it near impossible to get the a-arms out of the cross member and the out of the rear bushing retaining/cradling piece. if you remove the 2 bolts that hold the rack to the crossmember the whole thing will lower in one piece.
