Guys

I have a plastic plug in the side rail just under the battery on my '70 -6.
I need another for the other side as I have only tape there
Does this plug have a part number - I looked on the parts cd but its hidden somewhere sad.gif
It seems to be plugging a hole - is the hole for the -4s ?

TIA

possibly for rain tray drains Dennis, many wiser than me may comment.

Yes, the hole is for the 4 cyl. rain tray drains.
The plug is a 6 only part. (no rain tray)
There is another oval shape plug on original 6 cyl. cars to fill one of the fuel
line holes.
Is either still available ?

On my 71, I made two round plates with a tab on them for bolting them to the tin. They work fine and is a simple fix / not sure if 914 rubber has them aftermarket..

I have two 40mm holes to plug there myself. There are solid rubber grommets that size, but I haven't found them in small lots.

I'd opt for that original Porsche (like yours) part if someone finds a source.

IIRC Auto Atlanta has them as repros, not sure if 914Rubber does.

AA also just got in the 3 rear trunk floor plastic plugs (2 sizes) as a new repro FYI.

I would buy two of these. Maybe 914rubber can make them?

Thanks

Don't know about availability, but the part numbers were:

914 559 243 10 Large plug

914 559 245 10. Gas line plug

Weird, but I found two of them in my 914 stuff. I don't recall where they came from or where I got them.

I have blocked off all unused opening with rubber gromments and got the rubber seals around the engine tins sealing the best I can.
The fan on the 6 is a powerful beast think I have stopped it drawing some of the hot air,got to make even a small difference right ?

You want to plug them up as much as possible, though the engine cover grill will be the easiest way for air to get to the engine. Any rubber plugs/grommets should do the job, but the Porsche ones may be desirable for the concour crowd.

No not for 4/cyl, these are to run oil lines and such. The drain holes are toward the rear of the engine compartment. Not sure about later models but '72 and down have them.
Check with Bruce Stone for this item.
Good luck,
Mike

NLA for a very long time. Hoping Mark at 914rubber can reproduce. The ones fromAA are black and not clear like the OE ones.

I used hot water, Soft Scrub, and a toothbrush, they look NOS.

I'm baffled as to where they came from.

These are from my six. I haven't been able to whiten them at all. Love suggestions or if we could persuade 914rubber to reproduce?
