914World.com _ 914World Garage _ NPC: Photo software

Hi All,
I am looking for somthing to replace Picasa. So far this has been more challenging than I ever expected. Google Photos is not the answere from what I have seen. I need 90% just management/organization, 10% manipulation. I am looking for something that will easily import and let me shrink (for posting) photos as well as help me organize them. It would be nice to be able to rotate and fix red eye, but I don't need to change the way people look or add king cong.....

Any thoughts?

I have looked at lightroom, but its really expensive.....

I've found Google Photos to be great. What are you seeing that doesn't match up to Picasa? The AI with photo recognition makes searching and organization seriously amazing.

Easy to import? About as easy as it gets. Shrinking? No prob.

Here's an article that may be of interest:

Thanks for the reply!
My concern with Google Photos was that I read it could not shrink the photos for posting without using a second app. Is that not true? I will read your artical.

Thanks!

I know about the compression, but we need to make then even small to post... correct?

The forums like this one go by file size, not dimensions. I bet they are compressed enough by Google Photos to post here. If not, you might need another app. Something like this:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/simple-image-resizer/bficingcnodlbbildpbnjdgcmbipgnbi?hl=en

But depends on if you use Chrome, Windows, Mac, etc. I linked that one because it should work on any device that can run the Chrome browser and should work with the photos stored on Google Photos. (I'm not recommending that particular app, it's just one of many.)

More possibilities...

Maybe I'm dense, I have a heck of a time hot linking from Google Pictures for forums that don't host pics.

Copy your image URL from Google Photos (view the pic in your browser, copy the address from the address bar).

Then wrap that url in this forum's img tags. Or use the img icon in the full edit toolbar and it will put the codes around it for you. (Looks like a tree, tooltip says Insert Image).

........here's an easy solution:

Left click any picture(s) and then hit "send to mail recipient" and MS will offer some choices to reduce size of same to an email attachment. Then, control A = copy and you can save the reduced size or paste into another place to save same.

I use dropbox. I have it on all my phones and computers and any info I need is backed up on there.

I have my photos auto upload to dropbox from my phone after taking them. Not a photo oriented software, but extremely easy to access my photos from everywhere. Great for work when I go out to sites and take pictures, I come straight back to my work computer that I have dropbox on and bam photos are on.

If I need to share something with someone I can share a link to a whole folder for someone to view anywhere, or I can log onto my drives from anywhere.

Example.
