this might be the one for me

does any one know this car and rough range of what its worth?
First line....I'm listing this for a friend.....
Sellers seem to think that exempts them from any responsibility for misrepresentation.
"I" would eyeball that puppy before bidding.
Seems to be the new trend these days,,, selling for a friend, how stupid do they think the buyers are.
trying to contact seller. i haven't found this in local classifieds yet. and do plan on looking at this one. its only about 1.5 hrs away. i dont think i believe the 14,000 miles.
my concren is that they think its worth its weight in gold.
and no pic. of the engine bay or underside, make me think they're hiding something or don't know much about these cars.
Do you home work and read the 914 buying FAQ....
Looks like it's in nice shape, but as far as that odomoter reading….something smells rotten in Denmark

Looks like a new paint job. And that will make any car look great in pics.

did you read the ad??? ![]() motor said to be rebuilt 15,000 miles ago (same as what the speedo reads)...it is very common to re-calibrate speedo to match engine miles......miles on motor are sometimes more important than the miles on the car.....of course an hour meter could be usefull as well ![]() |
seeing the rear trunk with the pad out would be nice. the front too. print out a buyers guide at pelican and study it. look under the carpets. esp at the firewall bottom behind the seats. familiarize yourself with the "hell hole" in the engine compartment, the engine shelve area in front of the battery. there will be sound deadening padding. bring a good flashlight with you and spend a couple of bucks on an ice pick to probe around with. what's your spending limit? determine that before you even look at a car. look at the cars in the classifieds here to help you with your pricing basis. not knowing where you are located in the p.s. area, see if you can find one up north that's rougher than you would care to have. when you can really see wher the rust is, it helps you know where the rust hides . nice looking cars in washington can be nightmares. email the seller and ask what it would take to end the auction NOW and get back to us.
k
looks good for $100
Right door panel has been really wet. Left door panel looks like it's coming apart .................... Not good. The Cap'n
thanks guys.
i have looked at one all ready it was a 75 with the pass. long crumbling by the front of the door. and front trunk drivers side front low. and pass side floor up front.all rusted thru holes.
and rhody, i live up by millcreek / snohomish area.
'
i have seen prices all over the place from 1,500 to 4,500. the 4,500 one had rust at the batt. and some body rust lower door and 189,000 miles. engine rebuild by local mech. and repait by " family friend" boat painter by trade.
i've met root-werks and saw his lastest and have based my expectations on that.
Dave @ Triad has a Yellow 74 2.0l for sale in the NWPca ads. Its the yellow car that Dave Said was working on when he died. All the guys finished it afterwards for him.
Should be a good car to buy as it was solid when I saw it last year.....
can you give me a link to it
how much?

73 2.0l
wow!!!!!! about twice what i want to spend
You just missed out on the Craigslist car for $700. Dan Root finally had his arm twisted to take it, I couldn't due to no room left.
He fixed a couple a things and sold it back East to a Club member.
Black 74 2.0L but it isn't in the same league as the yellow car IF its the same car I am thinking of.
Always buy the BEST 914 you can get your hands on as they just plain cost double or triple what you think to fix up.
Roger might be interested in selling his yellow 75.....ok car but needs lots of cash to get right.
now see there i go... missing out on a deal again.
i met dan at his house while he was working on his lastest 6 conversion [i think ]seems that he goes thru alot of these.
he gave his phn nmbr. maybe i should call him and give him mine so i can get the next one.
i can do the mechanical work, but want a solid body.

I heard what Dan paid for it , well he actually posted it on here!
so did he pay to much? {dan}
a beer huh?
that depends if there is a deal going on.
No, he didn't pay too much IMHO...a nice 914 is getting hard to find up here.
Thought maybe since Roger PM'd you maybe there was a deal going on. He has considered selling his 914 on and off again.
he hasn't pm me back.
maybe i asked too many questions .

Sorry, just got back.. PM on the way.

some one else said he gave it up on another thread.
i might be calling you about if you have anything in stock as far as decient drivers.
Ack!!! Troy, I can't do it... I can't bear to sell my teener.
All those who understand, raise your brewskis!

Here it is, the $3800 1.7 that now sports a 2.4ROW six. And yes, it still has the 1.7 badge on it. I have surprised a few people with it. Sleeper.

You guys see the blue 914 in the back ground on top of rollbar.
Hmm, there is another blue 914 in the background. Possibly this guy is into the cars? If so, a call should reviel a lot.
If you call and it sounds interesting, let me know. We'll go down and check it out.
Good side? Maybe? Chrome bumpers, I like the tires/wheels.

The whole look of the car is pretty cool. White, clear lenses, neg PORSCHE lettering on the side and the Empi non painted 8 spoke rims set off the whole car.
Yeah, I wonder what low miles means?
I called and spoke to Shaun. Sounds like a college kid. I didn't ask anything about the car. But when I go for my run today at Lunch, I think I will head down that way. He is just off of 55th and 30th. I will give a full report when I return.
yah on a thirty year old car? when most cars get 15k to 20k a year put on them. are you at work today? would you want to take a quick look if i call them and i can find out where this car is?
your ahead of me.
thank you very much.
if it looks that good i can go down tomorrow.
Dan i' pm you my phone number .
Wow I feel like Ive been on another planet, for a week; (Travel to Atlanta)
Troy I live in Mill Creek and have a Fixxer If that intrests you.
Stop on by and Ill show you the collection.
thank you
i might. i'm looking for some thing i can use as a driver pretty much right on the get go
I have your number Troy and will give you a call.
Rich, welcome back man!
So here is the report: Owner not there (college kid) so I poked around best I could.
Paint - Pretty nice, usual paint chips here and there. Mostly around the door edges and front. Only one little rust bubble just behind the drivers door panel. Could easily just be waxed and look really nice.
Rust - Tough to do with everything locked up, but no rust under sail panel vinyl, no other rust bubbles I could find anywhere. Stuck my fat head under as far as I could, longs look great from bellow. Shoved my hand up the rear wheel well trying to poke for rust, could'nt get anything to pick or scrape off. Couldn't see anything but old undercoating, it felt really solid. There is a Optima red top in the car and I could see a battery clamp holding it in place, so looks like even the battery tray is solid. No front pan rust that I could see. No surface rust along the cowell (lower windshield)
glass - all there, no cracks or de-lamination. Rear window de-frogger.
Tires/wheels - nice, very nice, probably not that old.
Top - nice finish still. rear corners just a little chewed up, but not bad at all. headliner and front bulster still in place and very nice.
Int - Very nice. with exeption of what looked like a repair patch on drivers seat. Center console with gauges all in very nice shape. VERY nice carpet, not stock. I couldn't find one crack on the dash, but there was a sun shield blocking some of the view. Backpad/ seats and door panels are tan. New carpet was black. Very nice looking inside.
Shocks - all 4 shot - didn't see any sway bars.
Locks - car was locked, so they probably work.
E-Brake - may not work or may not be set correctly. Car was parked on a hill with wheel turned in and resting pretty heavy against it.
Eng - well, didn't hear it run of course. But it is still FI and looks stock. Muffler is shot, but a really cool dual tip desing with a nice mathcing rear valiance. I would replace the mufflers and keep the system. I imagine is sounds really nice. One muffler is blown out.
Overall - $4500, probably a little steep. I don't think this 914 has any rust that would make me turn away. It if runs out good, drives straight, new shocks, mufflers.... I would say $3600-4000. It is a really nice 914 that no one has F'd up yet.
Troy - I will call you with this report, but wanted to get what I could down before I started to forget it.
